"Compact easy to use great quality but with a fatal flaw" on by Hewho

Pros: Compact, intuitive menu and controls, nice build quality, excellent quality video even on 46 inch TV, decent still images, good exposure control, feels balanced in the hand, fits in your pocket.

Cons: Framing of still images a little tricky, loose lens cap is a nuisance, still image between each clip is irritating, transferring video to DVD only for those with long life expectancy

Summary: Brilliantly simple to use, nice qulaity feel. The image quality of the video looks excellent even on a large TV, ability to take stills and video at same time is handy, good sound quality, simple menus.... but .... when you connect the camera directly to a TV you get a one or two second still image at the start and end of each separate video clip. This makes the playback very irritating to watch. You can remove the still sections by burning to a DVD, but encoding a short 20 minutes series of clips takes over 6 hours of processing on a decent lap top, so is hardly convenient. A nice product spoiled by a flaw in the system that is common to most SD cam-corders. So this was a total waste of money for me, as I hoped to make DVD's of my videos but cannot tie up my lap-top for 6-8 hours a time, and I already have a good still camera so do not need another average one.
Great if you are happy only ever watching video direct from the camera and can stand the still images at the start and end of each clip, or if you have the time to let your PC run all night and day to burn a DVD. Otherwise, avoid an SD video camera.

"The device works as advertised." on by knoitall

Pros: Excellent design, form factor, function.

Cons: Could have improved low light performance; but not bad.

Summary: The camera works well across a broad spectrum of functionality. It is not broadcast HD, but if your screen is 720P the video images look as good as any DVD you ever played. The photos are quite respectable as well. Many nay sayers have criticized this unit for not being what, broadcast quality. Excuse me, it fits in the palm of your hand. It is remarkable for what it is and I recommend it highly. Many have considered the HD1000, but it is a much larger product and has already be superseded by the HD1010. This unit is half the price of the newer one and is intended for a different market. I have owned Exactis from the first and this is the best I have used. Also if you own a Mac you are in heaven, it dovetails beautifully into iMovie.

"Won't take the risk to buy" on by edde2008

Pros: VPC-C6, photo quality in sufficient lighting is excellent.

Cons: VPC - C6, photo quality in dim light is very very bad. Video also bad.

Summary: I used VPC-C6. The quality of photos taken under insufficient lighting such as indoor is terrible and unacceptable. The video taken is also very bad (too shaky). I am not sure if HD 700 is the same, but I won't take the risk to buy HD 700 cos I have lost all confidence in Sanyo.
