"Great for amateur videographers"
on by tonytx42Pros The super-responsive touchscreen is great, shoots HD video, really easy to use right out of the box.
Cons The microphone isn't spectacular, and neither is the zoom. Silly name.
Summary This is the first video camera that I've ever owned, and I think it's a really good one. I wanted something really simple to use, and after perusing the FlipCam selection, I chose the Bloggie instead. I'm glad I did. For my purposes (recording videos of my friends, family, and dog) this is perfect. It's REALLY easy to use, shoots really high-quality video, and is a little smaller than my cell phone, so it fits in my pocket. The included software is decent (also user-friendly), but when I upload videos to YouTube, I just use the website instead of the Sony software.
This is a really great camera for anyone who just wants to shoot simple, higher-end video without too much complication or fuss. I love my Bloggie. -
"Good camera crappy software..."
on by beeman410Pros Easy to use
Great pictureCons Nothing plays the videos except the Bloggie software & 3rd party crap.
And the videos not in sync with the audio...
i called Sonys support and they couldn't help me..Summary Don't waste your money on this camera guys...
At least not until they work out the bugs.. -
"Looks great, portable & easy to use"
on by dowenbcPros Small enough to not be a borhter carrying around. Very easy to use with large view finder to see what you are doing.
Cons Software is a joke.
Downloaded video file to computer and could not play with VLC media player or Windows Media Player. You will have to use third party software to convert file into a format that is recognised by other devices.
No flash on camera.Summary Would purchase again but only as a video camera. Those looking at the 12MP as a camera replacement should reconsider as digital zoom becomes pixelated and there is no flash. You need skill with 3rd party video editing softwareto convert file format, don't understand why VLC Media Player had trouble with the file format but I'm not some idiot who can't read instructions - spent many hours converting file formats for different purposes before I purchased this video camera.
Video looks good on 55" TV and the 80min capacity on HD is no problem unless you plan to shoot a remake of Jaws in one take, then you're going to need a bigger 'boat'. -
"Great entry-level camcorder"
on by djcloganPros 60 framerate with 720p resolution.
Still images look stunning
compact size/simple UICons 1080i limited to 30 fps
Firmware slightly buggy
No micro SD slotSummary This has been a great camera for basic use. It does have a standard thread for a tripod, so you can put it on any of them. When on a tripod, the camera focuses extremely well, however you can hear it focusing in an out in the playback if you move it around while using it. Also has a micro HDMI output, however I wouldn't use it much. The touchscreen isn't super sensitive, which is nice because you don't accidentally push buttons when you're trying to line up a shot. The biggest con is the lack of a micro SD port, and it would be nice to have wifi and such, but what can you expect for the base model? They do have versions available with all the bells and whistles too.

"Overall best pocket camcorder you can get now."
on by mryourgyPros Small, sleek, easy to use, great in direct light, 60fps is nice, big screen, nice build quality (feels very solid), touch screen is very responsive and not too sensitive, fast start-up, great outdoor quality
Cons Don't like the portrait video recording at all, wish it had more features, software is mediocre, camera pictures, autofocus, not much accessories, digital zoom, wish it had a recording light, no expandable memory.
Summary Great pocket camcorder. Biggest problem is the portrait recording and i wish that the Bloggie would always record in landscape whether or not it is in portrait mode or not. Maybe this could be fixed in future firmwares. Not the greatest of computer software but still easy to use. I see complaints about picture quality (for camera use, not video) which i agree is not the best, but who really is looking to use this as a camera when its intended use is mainly recording video. You need to be a tad patient when it comes to auto-focus especially in low-lights. Waiting to focus can take up to 5-15 seconds max. Great quality when outdoors (which is my intended use for it) and sound is not the best but not horrible either. 4 hours of video is more than enough of recording time for me but expandable memory is always a great feature. My Bloggie has never died on me, been unresponsive, won't turn on, and never malfunctioned. I love my Bloggie and I prefer it over my Flip Mino HD.
