"I think it will be just what we wanted"

    by eleven75 on March 15, 2006

Pros: DVD technology (no uplink cords)

    Cons: Optical zoom

Summary: It looks like this camera will be just what we want, once we get it..... We used to use a Hi8 tape camcorder but used the USB connection so much, it won't work anymore. So, rather than mess with cords to upload, we will go to DVDs.
The reason we don't have the unit yet is that we ordered one from USAPhotoNation.com. We got an email from the company to call and when I did, a salesman tried to sell me the rest of the camera. He was extremely rude and just a smart ass. He told me that the camera I ordered was the Asian model, had no english wording (he asked if I spoke Mandarin but suggested that it was Thai--??) it had no battery, no charging cord and no other accessories sold with them in stores. He also asked if I had just come out of a 25 year coma if I expected to buy a $900 camera for only $459. I asked to speak to a superior and he mockingly asked several times if I was going to "subpoena him". After a loud verbal exchange, he finally put me through to a boss who assured me that he would dock the salesman and cancel my order. I immediatly got the email confirming the cancellation.
Here is just one more example of "buy locally" and "you get what you pay for". Suggestion, don't purchase from USAPhotoNation.com.
I can't wait to get the camera and will submit another review once we use it often enough to tell if it really earns the 10 rating.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I would like to recommend Crutchfield as a safe and sure bet for internet shopping. They were recently (12/05) rated as the #1 internet electronics store by Consumer Reports and their customer service is excellent. They have a toll-free number and are open from 8-midnight (EST) everyday, and they offer free lifetime technical support on everything they sell. Even if you are not happy with the product, return shipping is free and there is a 30-day total-satisfaction guarantee. Plus, standard shipping is 2-3 day express, which means you get your item quickly.

Please wait to actually use the product- there are other forums to post problems with retailers.
