Pros: Great quality, great sound, great camera
Cons: SLOW auto focus, night shot is only OK
Summary: This is a really great Camera. I love it. It has all the feuters you could dream of. And it is not hard at all the rearange the menu to fit your needs. I bought it with free tripod, bag, lenses, memory card for 700 dollars. The only bad thing is the slow focus and the night shot on the DCR-HC 36 is better.Oh did i mention it has zebra strips and a red lamp when you are recording. Overall it is Great. BUY IT!!!

I love to make home movies and this camera does a great job! It has lots of features and if you take 5 minutes to organize the menu then you can have all the manual feature such as white balance,exposure and focus. It takes good pictures and it is easy to operate. I would definitly reconmend this camera. Only Con is that you have to buy the acsesories from sony

I think the HC96 is great! It has a good night vision mode. Great zoom and Amazing Picture quality. You can enjoy the vids you make with this on Widescreen HD Tv's. The only negative is that it takes OK pictures.
I think the menu is great if you reorganize to your liking. Regoranizing the menu is very easy to do. -

i like the ability to capture to memory card while in video mode that my much lower priced cameras have
