    "will not play analog tapes at all!"

    Pros: Wonderful night shooting and has a light

    Cons: doesn't read analog tapes

    Summary: I bought this camera ONLY so I could play my old 8mm tapes on it to download to my computer in order to burn DVD's. The sales guy told me it could read all 8mm/Hi8 tapes...well, it cannot. Do not be fooled as I was. I returned it and purchased a miniDV also from Sony.

    Hi, I am looking for a digital camcorder that can convert my analog video to digital format. I don't think this model (or others) will PLAY analog tape; my understanding is that this model will accept input from your VCR (or old analog camcorder) and RECORD to digital tape (format). Please correct me if I am wrong...
