"I own this camera, and it's the best in its class"
Pros: Excellent performance, superior picture quality
Cons: To get true 16:9, an anamorphic lens adapter is required
Summary: This camera is fabulous. It is easily the best in its class, easily outperforming the Canon XL1s and XL2. CNET's "bad" remark about it not having 24p has got to be a joke. Perhaps the guys at the lab there think everyone that shoots video plans to move it to film (the ONLY truly useful purpose for 24p in video) The fact of the matter is that televisions are NOT 24p devices. They are 30fps interlaced (termed 30i or 60i depending on manufacturer) Even the highest Hi Definition standard is interlaced. Don't get me wrong, progressive is useful, but interlaced is the SAME RESOLUTION (contrary to popular belief) and looks just as good for video. They both offer minor downsides (Progressive is choppier, Interlaced gives slight flickering of perfectly horizontal lines... but that is only introduced during post production with cg add-ons like boxes and text, and is easily counterable) Bottom line, 24p is only for people that want to THINK that the so-called "movie-look" enhances their shooting. The fact of the matter is that it can actually harm it. (You can convert a 30i source to 30p, or even 24p with the right tools, and you can go the other way too... but you will never get the perfect smoothness that 30i offers from a 24p source, even after conversion.)

Now that you have had the camera for a while do you still like it or would you purchase a different model - ie: Sony DSRPD170? The reason I ask is because we are planning on purchasing three cameras but I cannot decide which model. It will either be the DCRVX2100 or the DSRPD170. Our primary venue will be to do live internet streaming of conferences that our client is going to be hosting. Thanks for your input.
