"HiDef winner!!"
Pros: Brilliant Video, Great Stills, Build Quality
Cons: Battery life ain't the best, noise in low light, no AVCHD editing software!
Summary: I'm seriously chuffed with the SR7! Its video and stills performance are excellent, easily the best stills I've seem from a digicam, as good as any dedicated still's cam.
Quite a bit of noise in low light (but thats the case with all video cam's I guess) you can offset this by activating the 'slow shutter' setting but this has the drawback of an unacceptably long time in focusing when you use the zoom, so unless you are only going to keep the cam on one subject (not moving the cam around much either) then its not exactly a satisfactory solution, I'll get myself the accessory light that fits onto the 'active interface shoe'. The battery life ain't wonderful but its ok. I'm not one to do much editing but still feel Sony should include decent editing software at this price! and the fact that the HDMI cable isn't included also pee's me off!
Nice set of manual controls and options both for movie and still modes (just wish there was more than just 'spot focus' in stills mode), controls are easy to use, but the touch screen interface takes some getting used to, better stick on a screen protector or you may damage the screen over time.
A superb piece of kit!
