"Highly Recommended"
on by gtaylor12Pros Low light, ease of use
Cons no mic input, no mini HDMI cable provided
Summary Overall excellent camcorder. Researched for a long time before deciding on Sony HDR CX500V. Main reason was low light. most of our shooting is indoor of kids. Took some video in tv room with only overhead lights on and looked brighter on TV than in real life. Very little grain if any. Menu structure simple enough. Camcorder is VERY small. Fits my 7 year old better than me. but I have found ways to hold it and operate that are fine. Picture on new plasma are incredible in high def. DOES NOT COME WITH HDMI CABLE, that was a disapointment. Actually comes with red, white and rellow rca cables and composite cables. Had to buy HDMI mini to HDMI full cable.

"This camera is an upgrade from my Sony CX7"
on by avery267Pros Excellent shake sensor for walking during use, cant do that on CX7. The low light is good less grain in low light conditions but still there but again its better than CX7.. Amazing HD quality video, still cant see the diffrence with CX7. Great Cam...
Cons Still have little grain on video in low light. Gets hot in long use not like my CX7 cant feel anything.
Summary This is really an upgrade for me on my previous camcorder the CX7. Great Shake sensor, this is really important coz when you are campturing a HD footage it makes you dizzy when your moving alot. Low light conditions improved compared with CX7.
