"mymovie ROCKS! Best deal around with this feature set."

5 stars  | on by MCcrossbay

Pros

5MP Digital Camera w/ Rapid Shoot function & Built-In Flash, HD Camcorder W/ Light, MP3, MP4 Player/Recorder, Digital Voice Recorder, DVR from TV and watch late, Use as Webcam Uses Micro SD/SDHC up to 8GB, Removable Battery(carry a spare)

Cons

The ONLY thing I wish was different is when filming video I wish I could hold it the long way as it's native position for recording, but I'm guessing that would have to be the native position for still pics also, which would be weird.

Got this for my wife as a B-Day gift and because she was about to be a first-time grandma. It has excelled in all areas of use so far after a month of much use. The HD video is great, it even has a built-in LED for close-up video taking. It records in 1280 x 720 (720P) @ 30fps with a 16:9 aspect ratio. You can also record at VGA & QVGA. The 5MP Digital Camera works great too and allows you to take pics at 5 levels of resolution, I use the low levels for pics I'm posting to the web, and the high one for pics I'm going to print, with wonderful results. Our baby pictures were much better than the ones the hospital tried to sell us. I've used the included software suite to make DVDs of video & picture slide shows I sent to family. We have also taken video and pics from a NFL pre-season game, a convention I was at, & pics for ebay items, all video and pics came out superbly. It turns on about 2 secs after you hit the power button and is immediately ready to take pics or video. Good luck finding the built-in flash on similar devices, which also functions as it should taking great pics in low light and darkness. It has a night mode, hand shake stabilization, and the white balance, date stamp, EV Exposure, Effect, Snap Mode, & Flash Mode can all be customized. Like the fact that it uses removable micro SD/SDHC flash memory & a removable battery so having a spare available is an option. We have taken this mymovie to a major electronics store and compared it with similar devices from Kodak, Flip, & Creative and feel that the quality is comparable, and stands at the #1spot when it comes down to Bang-For-Your-Buck. A device such as this needs to be turned slowly when taking HD video, know what you are buying, the average device like this shoots at 30fps. A friend of ours liked the mymovie so much he got himself one within days of me showing it to him. I purchased it direct from the manufacturer and have had great customer service from them, I signed up for their newsletter and get great deal offers for their products.

"You get what you pay for."

0.5 stars  | on by msawulski

Pros

Price- too good to be true

Cons

User interface is not intuitive.
HD video quality is pathetic. If you pan or zoom, the video is horribly jumpy and blurry and granulated.
Colors are totally muted almost appearing grey scale at times.

Summary

I expect products like this to be manufactured in China, but this was obviously designed there too. Every expense was spared to make this video camera cheap and worthless. Costco is going to regret offering this camera for $99. They can expect a lot of returns.
