    "Alienware's Area-51m is a gamer's dream."

by upsnizzle on April 24, 2005

Pros: Faster than many desktops on the market, comletely customizable.

Cons: Expensive, but it's an Alienware.

Summary: The Area-51m is the pinnacle of today's laptops. Alienware already has proven itself to be the forerunner in the gaming department for computers, and this laptop is a testament to that legacy. Also, Alienware's technical support is the absolute best, no "on hold" waiting lines, and no talking to "technical specialtists" who don't know what a BIOS is, let alone don't speak English. While many may be scared away by the prices, these laptops are killers. Not only are they portable, but they pack a lot of power. My Area-51m is running an Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.0ghz processor, has 2GBs of RAM, a 60GB Raptor HDD, and a Radeon 9800 Mobility graphics card. My laptop is the absolute fastest at LAN parties, and attracts a lot of attention in its "Cyborg Green" casing. In my opinion, laptops can't get any better than this, unless it was free.

Yet more proof of Alienware's incompetence. Are you kidding me? This might be the most shallow marketing lob I've ever seen. I'm tempted to think it might be someone making fun of Alienware by posting a comment so blatantly absurd it had some sort of kitch value. If so, upsnizzle I salute you! If not, were you typing your comment on an Alienware? If so, did it crash right after you hit the "submit" key or did you have to let it cool down a couple of times before adding in the part about lan parties?

This sounds like the standard media hype that Alienware creates.

This is a spectacular review of an alleged spectacular machine. However, the language and tone of reviewer 'upsnizzle' smacks of spin and jargon.

This says one of two things of aforementioned reviewer.

Firstly, that the reviewer models their style and expression towards a commercial environment. Perhaps they are currently employed within the advertising industry or work for a marketing department within the tech industry. Perhaps they write many product reviews in a professional or amateur environment. If this is the case, I recommend that said reviewer work towards a more personable approach next time they attempt to post to a 'user opinion' forum.

Secondly, this may say that the reviewer is affiliated with the product and/or company which is the subject of this review.

Of course, I cannot begin to assume either of the above possibilities. I merely attempt to comment upon the reviewer's choice of language and the effect it may have on the opinions of unsuspecting readers.
