"A great semi-Pro starter" on by clsmith
Pros: No film, sturdy alloy body, computer controllable, can be fully automatic, completely manual or anywhere in between.
Cons: Thousands of settings to learn, need a 1GB card if taking a lot of pictures
Summary: Although it isn't the "perfect" marriage of SLR and digital technology, it works great for what I need. Although I would like to have the 1Ds, the 10D takes excellent photographs and writes to a high-speed card quick enough to take advantage of the 3FPS rate it is capable of. Once settings are learned, the camera becomes very indispensable.

"I have put this camera through a lot" on by Kalen
Pros: I've always been happy with the image quality
Cons: Took me many months to save up for
Summary: I got this camera when it first came out and I knew NOTHING about cameras or photography. I just one day decided that I wanted to be a photographer so I thought going with the cheapest SLR I could (eventually) buy was the best choice, and I haven't ever regretted it. I print 11x14 beautiful prints all the time and a few even bigger.
It may sound silly but it really changed my life. I'm so glad I went with an SLR so I've been able to grow without changing cameras.
Not trying to plug, but all of my photos have been taken with this camera and can be seen here: http://www.kalencompernolle.com/Updated
I also wanted to say that I have really beaten this camera up. It's been in places with large amounts of dust, gotten wet, been in the mud a little, and has even had paints spilled on it! What can I say, I'm a messy artist, but the camera somehow survives me and works just like it did when I got it. -
"The Canon EOS 10D is a workhorse." on by M21Falcon
Pros: Durable and captures high quality pictures
Cons: Hard to capture low light images.
Summary: I have had the 10D for a couple of years and I am very satisfied with my purchase. You really need to do your homework in order to capture tact sharp images. The size and weight can be an issue for some. This camera is a great learning tool for the photographer taking the next step in to the digital world.

"I have had this Canon for several years and it is a real workhorse. Good feel and controls." on by taracent
Pros: Great lens choice, and full features of any SLR camera.
Cons: Little heavy for full day camera shooting events.

"Excellent semi-Pro Digital Camera" on by ultravibe
Pros: Excellent sensor, functionality, speed, etc.
Cons: Only wish it was USB 2.0, but a $20 Card Reader for the PC instead of using the camera works fine
Summary: I love this Camera. I have been shooting with it for a little over a year in all sorts of lighting conditions and have not found any limitations. I did buy the speedlight 580EX, because I've never been happy with on camera flashes. I just wish I could afford the L-series lenses.
