"Awesome thing" on by Araphoto
Pros: A great camera
Cons: Great Design too
Summary: A very good camera for amateur and semi pro. very handy, great futures, some futures could be easier to find, an awesome quality for what you use for. The greatest thing I like, it loads the images so quick look like a slide show compare to Fuji and Nikon with higher price. Good job Canon as always.
So happy with it. -
"Amazing focus and speed" on by drjeh
Pros: Speed, focus quality, metering
Cons: joystick button a bit clumsy
Summary: The 20D is a great step up from the 10D. The 10D took good pictures, but picture processing was slow and I felt that the autofocus was a bit "soft", even with RAW format. I have been able to do just about anything I want with the camera with few disappointments.
I'm not sure the joystick button is a great addition, it's just a bit clumsy to use.
Also, buy the camera body alone and choose your own lenses, preferably an 18-200 or 28-300. They can be found for less than $400 and will take care of 90% of your common shooting needs. -
"Amazing, just a single flaw ..." on by lil2rich4u2
Pros: Ease of use, clarity and quality of images even at low settings, impressive response times, flawless mechanics.
Cons: Image transfer, and lens performance. See below for details.
Summary: First let me say that this camera is absolutely amazing in almost every aspect! I am by far a pro, but with this baby in my hands i feel like one!
In one weekend i shot a car show, 2 weddings, and a kids bday party. Let me detail my experiences,
1) the lens provided in my kit(18-55) is basically useless. I have to be RIGHT on top of the subject to get a decent picture without having to crop afterwards. I will now have to dish out the $1.5k for a decent tele.
2) image transfer SUCKS!! every 100 images is stored in a new folder, and to transfer them off the camera i have to transfer 100 images at a time then select the next folder, transfer those, select the next folder, etc. If you have 1000 pics or more on the card this means that you literally have to sit here and pay attention for a very long time! Id rather set it and go get something to eat. VERY bad system!
I would recomend this camera to ANYONE regardless of experience, only if they are willing to lug it around. I dont really mind much but i can see how it does suck to carry it. -
"Outstanding Camera" on by mwh44
Pros: Professional appearing photos
Cons: none that I can find
Summary: My wife upgraded from the 10D. Mainly for the increased resolution, but also for the ability to shoot in Black and White. This saves her the step of converting in her photo program. Her B&W photos are simply awesome. You can spend alot more to jump to 12 or 14 megapixels, but for normal use I am not sure why. Have printed up to 8x10 with excellent clarity. You do need to budget for a good lens. The Canon L series was a huge improvement over her prior lens.

"YES!! the Canon eos 20d (a.k.a. the Nikon killer) compare price and performance and go for eos 20d" on by COR
Pros: this is it. good design perfect handling, plenty extra`s,good speed power on and shoot. (no how are you today.)
Cons: no line-in or mic recording (ok its for photo`s) buy a sony!
Summary: to start i`m sorry for my english. (i`m dutch).
I own a canon eos5 it`s a very good camera he is over 10 years old but stil working perfectly.
A friend of my is a professional photographer and he let me use use some of his cameras nikon`s etc. but the 20d was it.
maybe because i`m using canon for a long time.
My advise is to rent a camera for a few days and than look what you`re buy.
I used the lenses of my eos5 on the 20d and even than the results are perfect
