"BEST IN CLASS"
Pros: Finally a 2.5" LCD screen, 10.1 Megapixels, Decent price for an SLR
Cons: Owner's manual could have been a little more detailed
Summary: I don't understand why this camera got a strike against it, in the editor's review, by eliminating the monochrome LCD screen and widening the main LCD monitor to 2.5 inches. This is one of the camera's best features. I actually upgraded from last years model (the XT) to the Canon Rebel XTi because of the 2.5" LCD screen.
Another thing I have to mention is the fact that this camera is ALWAYS compared to the Nikon D80, which in my opinion is unfair. The Canon Digital Rebel XTi should be compared to the Nikon D40x. It seems that whenever Canon comes out with a new camera model there's always a Nikon fanatic ready to undermine it without so much as a second look. I don't mean to belittle Nikon, but lets keep the fights in the proper weight class.
I give the Canon Digital Rebel XTi a perfect 10 because:
- Best SLR in class (I think it's only fair to point out that when comparing the Canon Digital Rebel XTi to the Nikon D40x the Rebel far out does the opposition)
- Price (especially online) is an outstanding value
- 2.5-inch LCD monitor
- 0.2 start up time
- 10.1 megapixels (they just keep going up)
- New ergonomic grip (much better feel to it than the XT)
- Self-cleaning sensor unit (Canon has finally acknowledged the dust problem)
