"Superlative performance in a lightweight, small form size 10MP camera."
Pros: Size, weight, handling, rear screen, image quality, flash performance, easy menus, RC-1 remote compatability,
Cons: One button access to mirror lockup without using menus. But, for the price, no Cons.
Summary: The XT was an excellent camera, the XTi is a superb camera. The change to the rear information screen is brilliant and I hope it's something Canon continues with in the 30D series of cameras. For hiking/backpacking/travelling, the XTi has no equal. It is an outstanding 'second body' for serious photographers, although that maybe makes the XTi sound less capable than what it is. I've looked at smaller DSLR cameras for travel purposes, but can't see any reason not to use this one. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. One big advantage over other Canon digital cameras (20D/30D in particular) is when using the RC-1 remote control for mirror lockup landscapes. I have never had any trouble with the new On/Off switch being turned on by mistake and even if it should happen, the camera turns off automatically. The battery life from the tiny rechargeable battery is very good and it recharges very fast, as well. The menus are very simple to use and easy to read even for someone with poor eyesight, like myself.
