"Tons of functions and Takes great pictures" on by cryfig4

Pros: This is my first digital camera, and it's a GREAT starter camera. There's a Red Heart on the dial which leaves you in Easy Mode. If you just want to point and click, this does it all for you. It's a CANON, 10megapixels, and VERY reasonably priced.

Cons: It's not heavy, but it's not lightweight. It seems heavier than I would like it. And the curved shape gives it a chunkier dimension on one side. It's not one of the sleek models. And the memory chip in the box only takes about 11 pics which I knew.

Summary: I bought this camera for my vacation. I searched for a great and cheap 8GB Memory Chip. Being that the camera is 10 megapixels, it needs more memory so it will take less time to store. And speaking of storage, this chip gave me 3,027 pictures to start with. My approach to 'capturing the moment' is to take 10-20 shots of the same scene/pose then after the trip, going home to edit/delete and save the best shots. We could never do this with film or those replacable blow out flashes... remember? So I take a bunch of shots in the Easy Mode, then I can explore with other features, like Zoom In/Out, Flash on/off, the Special Beach Scene Mode, even the Video Mode with sound. That's the ones I used on my holiday. The others I'll have to learn seperately... especially how to capture the shot when you only have a split second to do it with. But with every picture I take, I feel more comfortable with the camera, and I feel I am becoming a better photographer all together.
I knew what I wanted in a camera: 10 or more megapixels, at least 3x optical zoom (this one has 4x), and most important to me, Price. I was looking for something under $200 preferrably under $180. After doing my research online, the camera with the 8G Memory Chip was $209. A little more because I feel everyone should consider the camera and the memory chip as one purchase, but I'm very content. I also don't purchase the store's warranty, but (to me) insurance enough is buying the right fitting case, which makes the price slightly more, but again worth it. I also like how the camera uses AA Batteries. I puchased several extra before my trip, and I was glad I had them handy because I didn't realize how many pictures I was taking and how long the camera was on. I didn't have to stop to charge it, and being in another country, the outlet plugs wouldn't have worked without an adapter. And considering all the other cameras in this price range with the things I wanted, this Canon seemed to by far outweigh the copmetition.

"Great cam for the price. Tons of features, good quality" on by vtruss8

Pros: Compact, button configuration, High Quality LCD, Lots of Features for Auto and Manual shooting, High Quality Photos, Movie Mode is Actually Pretty Good Quality, Lightweight, Durable

Cons: Flash takes a while to recharge, Auto features sometimes don't work like they're supposed to, takes AA batteries (which don't last long) so you better carry 2 extra sets and buy rechargeables

Summary: I would highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a small point and shoot with great available manual settings. The camera is very lightweight and durable, and I usually carry it around in my pocket with ease. The LCD screen is great, and it also has a viewfinder. The photos are very good quality for a camera in this category.

The movie mode is also very nice. It has sound, and the videos are actually decent looking. With my 8 gig card, I can take a continuous 1 hour video with it.

The design is also well done. It fits my hand perfectly, and the button layout is great. The zoom and digital zoom are also very good.

Although it takes AA batteries, I have 8 rechargeables and a charger, and always carry 1 or 2 extra sets.

The price is spot on, and, it is a Canon...

"Good Camera, a bit large, beats nikon coolpix l12" on by The Kooze

Pros: It has a lot of functions, fairly easy to use, it starts up pretty quickly, fun to use

Cons: There is no manual setting, it is a bit clunky, i have taken about 50 pictures and the batteriers are dead, which causes the flash to have to charge.

Summary: I had a nikon coolpix l12, and it was a horible camera, but this one is great so far, however, i have only had it for 3 days. Some people said it had a lot of noise in the lower ISO, i have not had any issue with this. the lcd doesn't really show the picture as good as it will look once you have put them on the computer. There aren't really any manual settings, but for a point and shoot it is great. It is a bit large and clunky. It isn't heavy, but it also isn't light. So far everything has gone great with it. I usually shoot film with my canon slr, but this digital point and shoot sure is a lot of fun...i do wish it had more options for color modification to the pictures on the camera itself. My only real problem is that it is so big compared to the smaller canon digital cameras.

I've had this camera for about 8 months. It is great. THe only problem i have with it is that there aren't many manual functions and if you try to use rechargable batteries you'll only get a few pictures before the camera tells you to change the batteries. Now to the unbelievable. I hiked up to Laurel Falls in the smoky mountains. My group and i went "off-trial" and climbed down the falls. At the bottom i took a picture, them fumbled my camera and it literally fell down part of the falls. It got completly soaked. Four days later after it had dried out, it WORKED, it is messed up but i can point and shoot. Now there is a lot of "noise" though. This wasn't a problem before i dropped my camera in fast flowing water and sharp rocks. Also, all of my pictures were still there! This camera is awesome!!!!!!!!

"Great small camera" on by jmooney56

Pros: Great pictures with good list of presets.Colors seem to be really good. Easy to enlarge on the screen of the camera to show others. Pictures downloaded quickly with the USB cable. Camera easily fits in hands and and pocket.

Cons: I haven't used all the features yet but other than the fact that at times it is a bit slow to take picture, I haven't found any yet.

Summary: Good inexpensive camera with great pictures:-)I am not an expert but very happy with my purchase and pictures.
