"The Canon A470 is a great all-around camera for kids and adults alike."
Pros: Large LCD, comfortable control layout, 3.4X optical zoom, low price, Canon-quality pictures
Cons: Low resolution LCD, mediocre battery life
Summary: I just purcahsed the Canon A470 today, and from what I've seen so far, it is quite the performer, especially for a budget camera. The 2.5" LCD allows for comfortable viewing of your subject. The control buttons are well spaced and there is a nice little spot to rest your thumb while taking pictures. The zoom is a nice touch, too. The A470 is equipped with a 3.4X optical zoom lens, which goes a little further than the usual 3X. The price is attractive, too, at only 130.00. Of course, I'm sure you can find it for a lower price at an online store. (I got mine from Circuit City) The pictures are very smooth. The colors are rich, sharp, and saturated.
My only gripe is the extent of the battery life. It didn't seem to last too long. But when I turned it off for a while and came back to it later on, the batteries were fine. So, it's not that big of a deal.
