"Best camera in the less than $200 market"4.5 starson by ScotchtapeLoser
Pros: Light weight, Two AA Batteries, Manual Controls, 4x Optical Zoom, Zoom Flash, SD/MMC memory, 13 editable presettings
Cons: Average Flash Recycle Rate
Summary: The Canon A510 is a great little camera. It has the features of the A75, but with a 4x optical zoom and a flash zoom, this little camera is better. The two AA batteries are good for about 300 pictures or more. (I use the 2200mA/h energizer 15 minute rechargeable) This is able the same as the A75. The A75 uses 4.3-4.5 volts (4 AA) while the A510 uses 3.4 volts. I don’t believe that this affects the flash recharge rate significantly. I believe it has more to do with the Zoom Flash. I've noticed that the Flash recharge rate is about the same as the A75 while in 1:1 aspect ratio, but the recharge rate is slower when zoomed in all the way. I believe the "focused" zoom flash drains the capacitor further causing the charge time to be longer. The advantage here is that the flash carries slightly further then the A75. The zoom control is similar to the A75, but should have been rotated slightly counter-clockwise to make it easier to zoom in. Your finger presses against the hand grip slightly. Not a big problem. I purchased mine at Best Buy for 179.99+tax, and they threw in a 128Meg SD card for free. For under $200, this camera can't be beat.
