"Still a great camera after 3.5 years" on by cpico
Pros: Sharp pictures, lots of manual controls, sturdy
Cons: Small LCD, hard to see in bright light
Summary: I've owned this camera for 3.5 years & love it. It still works great! It took some practice & reading the instruction manual before I was happy with most all my photos. I use it for taking photos for ebay; as well as sharing photos with family & friends. I did have some problems with blury photos because of an unsteady hand, but once I set ISO sensitivity to 400, the photos came out sharp. The only complaints I have about it, is the LCD is small & hard to see in bright light.
Now after 3.5 years, I'm upgrading to the Powershot A630, only because I want something with more MP & a larger LCD. I like Canon's A series for the hand grip, manual options, and durability. I am giving my A70 to my teenage daughter, who's thrilled to be receiving it! -
"Great between breakdowns" on by cumbreit
Pros: Easy to use, adequate quality pictures, generic memory and batteries, handy size
Cons: Unreliable, poor warranty, expensive to repair
Summary: I bought my wife an A70. It went completely inoperative after about 15 months (1 yr warranty). Cost to fix was $105. Went down with exactly the same symptoms after 5 months. Warranty on repair was only 3 months. Time for another brand. I gave an A70 to my son at about the same time as my wife. His only lasted 1 week, but I had also purchased a warranty with retailer for his gift. The retailer just gave him new camera, and it lasted about 16 months. It is now in for repair before purchased maintenance plan runs out. His father in-law also got an A70 as a gift. It only lasted a few months. He just tossed it. All had the same failure - they start showing horizontal streaks in the LCD display, and shortly thereafter go completely dead - no LCD display - no picture. If you buy one of these, get a good dealers warranty and don't count on the camera lasting beyond the dealer’s warranty period.

"E18 after 13 months and 500 pics" on
Cons: Bad response time for the 'point-and-shoot'. E18 with only 500 pics.

"E-18 Error dooms this camera" on
Pros: great pics, easy to use, worked great for 1 month
Cons: after 1 month of use the lens started to jam (E18) then it totally stopped working. Fortunately, we bought instore warranty and returned it - didn't have to deal with Canon

"Bad luck or poor quality ???" on
Pros: Takes pretty good photos if it would work.
Cons: Purchased three of these, and two had problems with in a couple months, and one has been sent back for factory service three times in less than three months, with the same problem, the shutter button don't work properly. Poor quality control from Factory
