I Just Loved My Canon Power Shot ELPH 100 HS

  • "Canon elph 100 hs takes great pictures"
    on by Johnl33

Pros My wife insisted on Made in Japan on the bottom of Camera and I am amazed how much better photos it takes than my point and shoot nikon.
We haven't used the movie much, but the few short movies we have taken were really nice.

Cons None yet, only have had Camera two weeks

Summary My wife just loves this Camera, She has always bought made in Japan products.
We have taken three hundred pictures and I see it captures all the colors beautifully!

  • "Amazingly compact and great price for the average user"
    on by jesseboi8500

Pros one the great things that this camera has is the new Canon CMOS censor and high sensitivity. The stunning full 1080p HD can capture your desire moments and movies crystal clear. One thing i am amazed about is the digital zoom, i have had the displeasure o

Cons only 2 things that might be bad to some people. one is the focusing on video, which i have no problem with. Also the zoom is 4x optical, but the digital made up for that.

Summary This is one of the most amazing ultra-compact cameras that i have used in 2011. The image quality is stunning, HD movie is extremely clear, and the price point is perfect.

  • "Amazing picture quality at a low price."
    on by dimensionless99

Pros NightScene mode offers spectacular low-light performance.
    Very quick at startup.
Amazing picture quality for the price.
Lots of shooting modes to play with.
Easy access to flash modes and EV compensation.

Cons Buttons too small for my fingers.
    No manual mode.
Auto mode tends to overexpose in order to bring out dark areas, sometimes making shots look too bright or washed out.
No in-camera stitching of panoramic pictures (requires supplied software).

Summary I picked it up on sale for 99$, even came with a case (which you might not need as it fits nicely in your pocket) and an SD card.

Despite some trouble at first getting used to the small and flat buttons, I was very impressed by the quality of pictures it produced. Auto mode will perform very well under most conditions, despite sometimes overexposing pictures. In the worst case focusing and metering at a different location to get the exposure you want, or adjusting the exposure yourself with EV compensation is a piece of cake.

"Handheld NightScene mode" is amazing, image processing that allows you to take low-light pictures without a tripod. Creates pictures looking a little soft, but without the grain of high-ISO or the blur of long-exposure shots. In some case it performs better for night shots than my dSLR (Nikon D90)!

Overall, if you need a compact, versatile, budget camera that will offer great picture quality, especially in low light, look no further.
