Pros Color, picture quality (sometimes), zoom on video, easy of picture transfer
Cons Durability, does not capture fast moving objects, they always get blurred (even on different setting), slow turning on, battery is very short lived, so many options on two different settings, hard to use.
Summary I am a professional photographer and first had a Fuji digital camera since 2006 and whenever it would fall or get dropped, it would still always work like brand new. I upgraded to this canon brand digital cam and I accidentally dropped this one only once(slid out of my lap onto the floor) and now it doesn't work right anymore. The zoom stopped working and you can't use the touch screen although it is crystal clear still. All it can do is take one picture on auto. You can't take it on the zoom! To get it fixed will cost minimum twice the cost of what I paid! I will never buy a canon product again because of this. They should realize that people are human and sometimes do accidentally drop things such as phone, camera etc. So they should make a durable product that will withstand such. I will be looking again for a fuji or a nikon instead. Don't buy this camera! Also the battery life is so short for it I had to spend an extra $60 on an extra battery. Also the settings are confusing as there are so many options scattered that is makes it hard to find them once you've used one. Even when the camera was working fine, I only felt maybe 60% sold on the product. I use my Nikon DSLR for professional pictures, but I wanted a smaller camera I can take anywhere for easy shooting.
Pros Very good apart from the noise Caused by image stabilizer mechanism when making HD movie
Cons I am surprised how cnet missed the noise issue
Summary Don't buy any elph series camera, they all have the same problem
