"Canon has disappointed me. SD1100 is much better!" on by LissyLips87
Pros: Great Colors
Stylish Design
Great Pictures w/minimal light & no flashCons: EXTREMELY Poor Auto-Focus
Pic are blurry 6 out of 10 times
Misleading colors **box says RED but camera is clearly bright pink**Summary: This camera is great for the money. However, if you've ever owned a Canon Powershot SD1100 or later chances are you will be disappointed with this camera (sd1200is), as was I.
I broke my Canon sd1100 after dropping it numerous times so decided to upgrade. I purchased the sd1200 after comparing specs with my previous model and was pleased to see that almost everything was identical. The sd1200 is 10mp vs my sd1100 which was 8pm. That was about it. I liked the stylish design of the sd1200 so I went ahead and picked out the RED one which is actually PINK. After getting it home and playing with it, I immediately noticed a significant difference in the picture quality, compared to pictures my sd1100 took. Lets put it this way, my SD1100 took pictures similar the the quality of the sd1200 AFTER I dropped it and broke it.
Chances are, if you snap a picture, you will have to retake it because the auto focus is so slow to react.
Sadly, after two weeks of trying it out, I went on EBAY and ordered another SD1100. I'm very pleased with my new purchase of an old camera. It's worth the extra $40 to get the older model! -
"This is worst camera I have ever used." on by prasadpimparkar
Pros: Compact design
Cons: Average picture quality.
Lens died in 8 monthsSummary: I bought this camera in Mar 09. The camera worked well till Oct 09. The shutter of the lens stopped working there after. There seems to be some issues with the lens as well. Canon service says it would take $100 to inspect and replace the lense. Ironically you can by this camera now for < $150.
I use to use this camera with utmost care, it was not fallen or exposed to water or dust
My previous SD750 used to produce much better pictures that this one. The picture quality was very poor compared to my friends Nikon CoolPix L20.
I regret with my decision of buying this camera. I certainly wont recommend buying this one. -
"great vacation still camera" on by mastervi
Pros: Just went on a Disney vacation a purchased the dark gray 1200 because of it's compact size and quality. It took wonderful photos and good enough video where there was sufficient lighting. Just watched photos and video on Sony Bravia HD set. Great.
Cons: Could be better in low light situations as a video camera, but I only paid $200 and for that, it was a great investment.
Summary: I would highly recommend it for someone going on a trip who wants the option of shooting great photos and good video all in one very compact unit. I was great not having to lug around a video and photo camera. It will surprise you. That I am sure of.

"Just got this camera for Mother's Day and loving it." on by CoriParks
Pros: Clear crisp pictures. You don't have to do much except point and shoot. Like short time it takes before shooting another picture. Like photo editing options: contrast, red eye, etc. Love the image stabilizer.
Cons: Not really a con for me, but it's not touch screen.
