"CANON'S anomally" on by picman001
Pros: Comes in your choice of colors
Cons: Grainy pics, Auto mode has faulty focus/flash, Flash overbright, missing modes(no Stitch Mode), might as well be a no name brand
Summary: As a life-long CANON user I would say this is the worst of the Elph line. The most important thing for me is the picture quality and the SD1000 & SD1100 had that down so I was in for a shock when I got the SD1200. It's pictures were ridiculously noisy even at the lowest ISO's with a dull cast (generally CANON cameras always have a brightness to their colors versus other brands) overbright flash pictures, useless Auto mode with malfunctioning focus and misfiring flash (after the first time , I never used the AUTO mode again), No STITCH Mode (one of my favorites!) and a bunch of other missing features. Strangely the SD1100 had a larger sensor and more features then the SD1200 (kind of backwards). The SD1300 and the SD1400 which are the next in the line seem to have many of the features reinstated. This model "just doesn't belong".
Bottom Line: Buy ANY other model from CANON.
Actually the best CANON Powershot was the SD400 because it had the largest sensor in a CANON compact (people thought I was using my SLR, picture quality was so good). Don't know why they never made another model with that large a sensor.
