Pros Small, portable, easy to use
Cons Many unsharp, lo-res looking photos
Summary I have a Canon 800 IS I love, It was getting worn and I wanted to try to f2.0 with the 400IS. I was pretty excited--I've won photo contests with greatly enlarged photos from my 800--it's that sharp. So many of the photos printed at normal size (5x7, 8x10) from the 4000IS are grainy, I really don't enjoy using it.
Pros auto focus on this camera is pretty quick and accurate. I am really impressed with the low light settings. It was always frustrating to get good photos in low light areas, now that problem has been addressed with Canons SD4000. there are plenty of cont
Cons menus can be a little deep but once you figure out which setting you want you usually use than so much that getting around is second nature.
Summary i like this camera a lot. it's worth the price and even the battery life is good.
Pros Great outdoor pictures
Cons In video mode it gets out of focus too often
low light pictures are not as good as I thought they would be based on the cnet review
IS not as good as on my prior Canon Cameras
Summary I do not like this camera because I was hoping I the video was good enough to not need a camcorder anymore. The IS is not as good as on my prior camera(SD 800IS) as well. I would not recommend this camera to someone else.
Pros Easy to use. Bundled software is a great bonus, if one uses it.
Cons Volkan Akkurt: Battery type, CIPA rated life Lithium ion rechargeable, 250 shots. This is relatively weak battery.
Summary Give it a shot.
