"Good in many ways, could be better" on by mokco88
Pros: size, speed, great LCD screen
Cons: zoom feature seems out of place, flimsy battery/sd slot, lack of review capabilities in picture taking mode
Summary: Overall this is a great camera. I chose it for its compact size and great screen. This is a camera that I use every day, I am not a professional and my usage is focused around the family trips and occasional events. For my needs, this is a great unit. Three issues I found, controls to zoom in/out are out of place (in my opinion,) requiring one to use an index finger instead of a thumb. The second is the flimsy door for the batter and SD memory card, if you do not slide it all the way, it will break on you. Finally, perhaps my own ignorance, but I am unable to locate a preview option (that will allow me to scroll through pictures I have already taken) when I am in picture taking mode.

"Great point and snap, compact camera" on by 10stug
Pros: Large LCD (2.5"), very compact, user friendly
Cons: for it being a compact camera, it may be too small to grip for big hands
Summary: This is my first digital camera, and I'm loving it. Very user friendly. Nice and compact. The large LCD is a plus for viewing.

"Awesome looking - sub-standard quality" on by n91900
Pros: Great looking design, simple to use
Cons: POOR QUALITY
Summary: The original ELPH cameras were breakthrough products in design and provided good quality. For the past several generations, the quality is still stuck in year 2000. For a company that brags about their optical heritage, they sure put low quality glass on this model.
The camera is simple enough to use. My wife has no problem taking pictures and on the LCD screen they appear to be bright. However, a close look on the computer proves that the images are grainy and with low resolvability which stands out as a major flaw in areas high in detail such as the eyes, hair and general face features.
The flash is very low in power and should not be considered usable past about 6 feet in low-light conditions.
The menu system is quite nice but alternate ways to reach certain functions can cause users to take pictures with wrong settings.
I would caution someone from this model and have them focus on other brands like Olympus or Sanyo. I've heard that Sanyo makes more digital cameras on the market than anybody else, but usually under other brands. I can't get anyone to confirm exactly what brands, but I think that the Olympus might be one of them.
