"Very small, great quality of photos, and hd video" on by alexdesignz
Pros: Takes great pictures and fits in my pocket, i almost forget it is there. The hd video is so sharp in daylight.
Cons: that it is small, i have almost dropped it 2x. The Canon case they recommend is to loose (get the lowepro case "napoli 5" it fits perfectly)
Summary: I recommend this as a great point and shoot. I use it as a 2nd camera to my SLR, but have started to use it over the SLR.

"The perfect travel camera!" on by ceschiutti
Pros: Very easy to use, great quality video for price, excellent quality in photos. Lots of shooting features. Face detection and face timer works great too!
Cons: Can't zoom when shooting video (even the dSLR's can't do that though). Chrome finish may get scratched.
Summary: I have had my camera for about 2 months and I have loved the ability to take in anywhere in my shirt pocket. I would not put it in a pocket with anything else though, like keys or a cell phone, because the finish looks like it could easliy get scratched up. I recommend getting a screen protector for the LCD before you even open up the box (as with any LCD screened device). I wanted a camera that takes good video and the 30fps HD video is great. Just make sure your computer is powerful enough to edit in HD, otherwise keep the video as is when you burn it to DVD. The face detection timer worked great - seconds after you walk into the frame, the camera takes 3 pictures - VERY useful for family photos. The instructions suggest a CLASS 4 SDHC card for video. I usually just use the basic mode but they have tons of different shooting modes available. The software is your usual and is not as good as GIMP or photoshop, and the video editing is VERY basic. I'm still looking for a good open source video editing program. Video output is .MOV format and is obviously not the best for a Micro$oft PC. Software converts it to H264 format.

"Great Camera" on by jordanelliott_30
Pros: Form Factor--Extremely Small, Very good picture and video quality, surprisingly good low light performance, HDMI output, 720p HD Video recording
Cons: Lack of button backlighting makes operation in the dark a guessing game, buttons are relatively small
Summary: I bought this camera because lugging a dSLR as an everyday camera was very inconvenient. As a still camera, the SD780 offers picture quality that, while not outstanding, is definitely above the average point and shoot camera. As a camcorder, the 720p HD videos look amazing compared to other point and shoot VGA recorders. Saying that, I would not consider this a replacement to a stand alone HD camcorder, but it is nice to be able to record in HD if the situation presents itself. The greatest thing about this camera is its size. The front face is about at wide as a credit card and the body is slightly thicker than an iPhone. It is camera that you can slide in your pocket and never think about it to you need it. Bottom Line: This camera will not fulfill the needs of a prosumer power user needing manual controls over each shot, but it will produce excellent video and stills in a diminutive, extremely portable body.

"excellent, inconspicuous looking point n shoot" on by kedarsc
Pros: Great image quality and colors including High ISO
Very responsive, esp in playback
Fast boot-up
Great LCD in all lighting conditions
Excellent digital macro mode
Great UI controls
Good movie modeCons: No show stoppers con's for me
Summary: Great pocket able and stylish compact camera though below minor niggles if solved would make it perfect ...
Lens could have been wider and longer (28mm - 4x)
Movie file sizes (bitrates) are very high esp considering H264 compression is used. Forces me to keep movie to QVGA instead of VGA/720P. But QVGA also looks great.
Zoom during movie would have been useful
Customizable max ISO levels in auto mode would be useful to have
Would be great to integrate digital macro, high ISO, long-time exposure (all extremely great modes) in P mode itself rather than cumbersome scene modes
Would have loved a 6MP mode instead of 5MP. 12MP is too high, 6MP for me is right balance
