"Great pics for point and shoot camera" on by njreports

Pros: easy to use, easy to focus, nice zoom.
some people complain about the flash placement, but it's really not that big a deal.
friends are really impressed with the quality of my photos in comparison to their everyday point and shoot cameras

Cons: the lens can cast a shadow on the photo when i take pics of food

"Great Compact Zoom" on by sjsimmons68

Pros: 14x wide angle zoom, good image quality, accessible manual controls, HD movie (720p) with exposure control, large LCD preview screen, compact & attractive design, intuitive menus and controls

Cons: 14mp sensor far more than needed; images would be cleaner with a 10mp sensor like s90. You can't move the focusing point, movies show some grain in shadows, slow performance, does not shoot RAW, slower lens (f/3.1-5.9).

Summary: If you do not need fast shooting performance, this is fun and enjoyable camera. The 14x zoom lets you get close to your subjects, and the HD movie performance is fine for well lit situations. Many have complained about the placement of the flash, but with time I've come to appreciate the design--I've learned to cover the flash with my finger when I don't want to use the flash.

Of the "cons" above, the only truly significant concerns is the 14mp resolution, which crams far to many pixels than necessary into the small sensor. It's not necessary, and I wish they'd taken the same approach here that they took with the s90/s95. This too me is more marketing than anything else. It would be nice if the lens were faster too, but with a 14x zoom, I suspect the lens would have to be too large to support the compact design. If you want a high quality camera with a large zoom, you won't go wrong with this. But if you don't care about the zoom as much, I'd prefer Canon's S95, which has a 3.8x f/2.0 lens, a larger sensor with a very reasonably chosen resolution (10mp), and better manual controls.

"Bad design for pop-up flash." on by ssmadurai

Pros: Good picture, 14x optical zoom, movie clips are fine for HD.

Cons: The major drawback on this camera is POP-UP flash.

Summary: I bought this camera. It looks good for quality pictures, movie clips. User interface is fine. I got disappointed due to their bad design of popup flash. I used to hold both the hand while taking pictures/movie clips. The popup flash annoying me to hold my left hand on the camera. Due to this bad design I am giving low rating. I am waiting for another Canon model with 14x Optical zoom but without POPUP flash.
