"Even more than you hoped for" on by cwtodduwm
Pros: it has every feature you could think of, but is incredibly slim
Cons: nothing significant
Summary: I choose this camera based off the reviews of the ex-s500. I compared it and did heavy research on almost every camera between $300 -$400 made by sony, canon, kodak and nikon. I was hoping the minor flaws i noticed in the ex-s500 would be gone with this new model, and they definetly were. The picture quality is amazing. The best shot settings work great, and if they arent enough you can manually set every setting and feature to get the perfect picture. You can even do full editing of pictures and videos right in the camera. The video quality is great (30fps), and surprising flexible with available adjustments. Using motion print allows you to pick a single frame from a video and save it as an image with the push of a button. Most people who by digis never read the manual and then complain when their pictures dont come out right. READ THE MANUAL. It's 245 pages of pdf and your jaw will drop when you read about all the features. You can even add sound bites to still images!!! I bought it before any reviews were out, and i was hoping for it to just not have any major flaws, but it is definetly an amazing camera.
The closest thing to a con I can think of is the power button (which only needs to be used to turn off the camera) might be hard to push if you have big fingers. Another semi-con is that it seams too nice to carry around in your pocket. It's LCD is slightly raised off the back of the camera, making it the part that touches and rubs on stuff. On that same note however, I am a bar going college kid and every morning it comes out of my pocket unphased. -
"A Marvel in Miniaturization and Digital Technology" on by godie2006
Pros: thin, stylish, anti-shake, long battery life, bright LCD
Cons: no printed operations manual
Summary: I bought my Casio EX-S600 on eBay after doing some research on the internet. I wanted a go-anywhere high quality digital camera that's user-friendly with both auto & manual controls. Most popular but over-rated brands on the internet are Canon & Sony. What impressed me about the Casio EX-S600 are the specs/functions not usually found in the other brands and more expensive models. It's a marvel in miniaturization technology - one of the thinnest (just 16mm or 0.6") 6 megapixel cameras that can also take high quality mpeg4 movies. It has Anti-Shake stabilization for both still picture and videos. The almost 3 dozen "Best Shot" settings makes it almost foolproof. You can even revive old photos and straighten & crop shots of whiteboards and business cards. It has various filter modes for artistic shots like sepia, B&W, warming & cooling filters. The battery life is simply amazing - I have taken more than 300 shots including videos on a single charge. There's a movie mode that records 5 seconds even before you press the record button for that difficult to capture moments. It also has 3 timer modes: 10 sec, 2 sec & 3X shots. Other functions and manual settings like EV shift, white balance, metering, etc. are included that professional photographers will definitely appreciate. I would have wanted a bigger screen but the 2.2" LCD monitor is very bright even in broad daylight.
The cons about this camera are not that significant. The operations manual came in a CD and the model was EX-S500. However, I was able to download the pdf version for the S600 model at the Casio website. The unit looks fragile especially if the lens assembly is extended and may not survive a drop of about 1 meter high, so be sure to attach the strap. This model came with it's own cradle for charging, direct printing, viewing on TV and PC interface - which can be bulky but you will use these functions only occasionally.
Just being able to take precious pictures and videos anywhere and anytime makes this camera a good value for money. -
"What an excellent camera!" on by benjai08
Pros: movie-mode while taking pictures, ultra-compact, many different settings, easy-to-use, and the battery life lasts a long time
Cons: nothing yet.
Summary: When I sold my Sony V-1 camera on e-bay, I was looking for a small camera that was around 300 dollars. I went to cnet and went to google to search "review digital cameras" to check out what's hot right now. The Panasonic Lumix FX-8 is a great camera and my roommate has it. The canon SD400, 450, and 550 were an option too. But when I went onto this website that showed this camera and I really liked it. I didn't really like a casio because I love sony cameras and I don't want to get anything except sony stuff.... but all the features just cajoled me into looking at it even more. So the 6 megapixel, antishake, ultra small camera came out last month or two and there weren't any reviews on it. But I did get enough info that this camera could take pictures while in movie mode. The movie quality is great and it's the only camera right now where you can zoom in... (but it's in digital mode). I'm satisfied with this camera and everyone thinks so too. The pictures are great, even when your hand shakes A LOT or when someone is moving. good stuff. have a nice day.

"Not what I expected" on by wrapster
Pros: Very Sleek design, small, Large lcd.
Cons: poor picture quality
Summary: The camera is okay. I was expecting it too take great pictures but I took some samples shots around the house as well as outside and was disappointed by the quality. If the picture is view at 100% on a pc you can see the dots of a picture. Its awful, this def. should not happen. But besides that it has a nice sleek design and like the large lcd screen. It might be one of the smalled digi cameras, but its disappointing in picture taking performance.

"Poor photos" on by mark366
Pros: Small, great feature set
Cons: Unacceptable photo quality
Summary: I bought an EX-S500 -- the 5MP sibling to the S600 -- with the hopes of replacing my old Olympus Camedia (4MP). What a disappointment. About half the photos are blurry. I returned the camera to Casio. They claim to have replaced the lens assembly and circuit board, but the photos from this 5MP camera still can't hold a candle to my old 4MP camera.
Having been disappointed by the S500, I decided to play with the S600, just to see if perhaps Casio had solved the S500's problems. I took an SD card to Circuit City, snapped a few photos in the store, and took the card home to examine the photos closely. The photos from the S600 were every bit as disappointing as the S500.
The tiny size and great feature set are awfully attractive, but what good are these things if the photos are simply unusable. I will definitely avoid Casio cameras in the future.
