"Best camera ever made. Cnet is biased against casio." on by Sarbazeirani2
Pros: 7X zoom, great quality, easy menu
Cons: nothing is wrong with this camera
Summary: This camera, as well as all other cameras from Casio are much better than any other cameras in the same price range. I speak from experiance, i have had a canon SD Powershot and a Casio Exilim Z70, although the powershot was rated much higher by Cnet, the casio was by far better. I think since Cnet is sponsered by canon, they create biased reviews, so canon keeps spporting them. This is contradictory to their "unbiased reviews" slogan. This sucks.
Casio over Canon anyday. -
"Would not buy Casio again" on by yorkie03
Pros: Camera size, appearance, ease of use
Cons: poor image quality, poor customer service
Summary: I purchased this camera at the end of July 2007. The circuit board failed 3 times between 9/07 and 11/07, and it has been sent to Casio for repair each time. They have had the camera far more than I have. Their customer service department is probably the worst that I have ever dealt with. I paid $300 for this camera and it lasted 6 weeks before the first failure. It was repaired and lasted 2 days before it failed again. It was repaired again and lasted 2 days again. I am waiting for Casio to finally follow through with their promise to replace the camera. I'm not holding my breath. Next time I'll buy Sony, Cannon, or Fuji because I have family members who have had problems with those brands and those companies honored their warranties.

"You Cannot Go Wrong!" on by dan126
Pros: Size, 7x Zoom and a great movie mode
Cons: docking station
Summary: I've had this camera for 1 month now and it has been a pleasure to use. During the last two months I have also had the opportunity to use the Canon SD800 is which I returned yesterday (thanks to Costco's 90 day return policy). While I did prefer the 28mm wide angle lense and the LCD of the Canon in the end I felt the Casio had more to offer all around.
Unlike what c-net reported, I found it easy to navigate the menu system even without the use of the manual. They also felt that above 400 ISO was too noisy, duh what small point and shoot isn't (maybe the Fuji f31). To be honest if you truly want a camera that works in the higher ISO's for say low light and action then you need to get a DSLR. The picture quality of the Casio is on par with the Canon.
The Casio is fast small and has a 7X zoom that doesn't protrude from the camera that also takes excellent movies with zoom to boot! With this camera there is no need for a camcorder. What more could you ask for in a small p/s. You can buy this from CC for 240 and add the 2year accident proof warranty for 65 and still spend less than you you would on the Canon. To me it was a no brainer. If you want further info see Ken Rockwells report. -
"C-net is clueless!!!!!!" on by zoe55
Pros: Size, Speed, Zoom, Pic and Video Quality
Cons: None for a point and shoot
Summary: Cnet definately has a bias against Casio. I compared the Ex-V7 (c-net 6.6) to the highley touted Sony T100 (c-net 8.0). Both were fast and similar in size and weight, but that is where the similarities ended. The Casio Ex-V7 has better image quality even in higher ISO's and is far superior indoor and under low lighting.
It gets a 10 for my rating because I do not think that you can get a better camera for under $300 that performs as well and in such a small package which makes it a perfect travel companion. With this camera you will not miss any shots of your kids and the movie mode is so good that I just gave my camcorder to my brother since this tiny little camera actually has better video quality. -
"What's not to like?" on by rwhitehouse
Pros: Small, compact with 7x zoom, large enough screen, lots of settings to alter (ISO, shutter speed, etc) etc..
Cons: Relatively easy to put your finger over the lens if not concentrating, docking station to connect to anything must be used
Summary: Generally an awesome camera with a lot of functions. Movie mode is excellent - Great quality for a camera this size (Though you can't import them into WMM, you'll need a better software).
7x zoom works well, and image stabilization is quite effective, though not the best.
The inclusion of a BESTSHOT (Or SCENE) mode for movie is a nice, relatively unusual touch.
Audio quality seems quite good as well.
As for normal photo quality, it seems fine (Unless your super picky), though it is true that in darker conditions it can get quite grainy.
Generally though, the camera is satisfying to hold, full of features, and does the job it was built to do well.
Hope casio gets better receives from cnet in the future, they are in my opinion an excellent brand. This camera is no exception
