"Great Prosumer Camera"
Pros: Great Picture Quality; Manual Control
Cons: Eats Batteries; A little Bulky for users with small hands
Summary: I bought this camera about 2 years ago(2004) and i have not yet regreted that decision. This was my first digital camera and now i also own a smaller Sony Cybershot. This is by far one of the best cameras that i have ever seen. The dual memory is a plus, (CF, XD) and the 6.3 megapixels are awesome especially because i have a custom built computer with a 24 inch LCD. By far the best thing that came with this camera was the quality. If you are looking for a smaller camera as a point and shoot, dont buy this. If you are a the equivalent to a black diamond photogrpaher this would be a great buy. Good LuckUpdated
I bought this camera back in spring of 04 and have gotten everything i expected out of it. I bought it at bestbuy at closeout price for 300 dollars. I saw the original price and said to myself that i got a deal. What a deal it has been. I do not think out of the 20000 photos i have taken with this camera in the past 2 years and not one of them has been blury nor has one been distorted in anyway. I would say that about one third of those photos have been taken in manual focous which i find is not the easiest MF that i have ever seen but it is decent and unless you really care so much as to the point you would choose different cameras over MF alone, then it wont be a problem for you. The burst most is OK. I wish Fuji had included a mode where you could take unlimited burst photos on 12F not 3m. you can however take 5 photos at a time in 12f so that is why i say it is ok. The worst thing about this camera is its battery life. I have owned other cameras and at the moment own other cameras and this camera by far has the worst battery life out of any camera i have ever owned. there may be cameras that have worse battery life than this but i have not encountered them so i can not say anything about those.
Overall i would say buy this camera for the picture quality if you can still find it because i dont think that they make this camera anymore, its follower or replacement is the S9000 which i also own and is very nice
