"Nice average camera."on by Shawzy
Pros I like the fact that there is a 10x optical zoom, an impressive 45x digital zoom (pictures are pretty clear), HD video (some what grainy) & a zoom feature while shooting video.
Cons The EXR feature does not work as well as expected. The HD video was somewhat grainy & there is an annoying clicking noise transfered to the video. While shooting videos indoors, there were vertical light streaks obvious during & after.
Summary I have a F200 EXR camera (awesome) & Fuji needs to do some more work on this camera. Improve the EXR indoor sensitivity, eliminate the clicking noise & vertical streaks. I also wish that they would allow this F80 EXR camera & the F200 EXR to be charged during the transfer stage like the cameras of old used too.
Pros I can't really think of any.........
Cons I've had four Fuji Finepix cameras of which the two new EXRs have been a total washout.
I was a devoted user of my FinePix F455 for 5 years when it was dropped and couldn't be economically repaired. I was really excited to get one of the new generations
Summary I'm sad to say I just don't trust the Fuji brand any more, and will be replacing my camera with a Sony or Canon.
"Expected Better"on by glymzz
Pros Good looking camera.
Cons Casing scratches easy. EXR aand other settings not always the best performance. Adjustments complicated; washes out white; on button Very sensitive; no hard copy manual.
Summary I upgraded from a Fujifilm Finepic Z33. I was pleased at first. Then I tried to take shots of white roses. The detail washed out no matter what setting I used. Snow is a challenge even with setting adjustments. In less than 6 months, empty spaces in shots where camera didn't record all the image. This camera screams for a hard copy manual you can carry with you. A plain manual that tells what the settings are for. I don't mean a how to photography manual. I'm very disappointed overall.
Pros 10x optical zoom, EXR mode has presets but also flexibility
Cons I heard this camera had good low-light function and remembering my Fuji F30, I decided to take a chance and get it. Not one of my better moves - the low-light capabilities are no better than average, and the IS function isn't great
Summary This is a decent, but not a great, camera. I'm still waiting for something to take the place of my old F30 for taking photos in available light.
Pros 10X optical zoom and the large bright view screen. Low light performance improved using special multi-frame stitch settings. Nice pictures with the auto EXR setting. Rechargeable battery is a nice option.
Cons Smart flash not very "smart". Unable to produce a decent photo if the subject is back-lit. Indoor day photo with auto flash, the picture would be very under exposed. Also the "special" sunset setting is a joke, all it does is lock the ISO at 100!
Summary Overall somewhat disappointed after reading all the hype and write ups about the EXR chip. The extended zoom in a compact body is nice to have but the issues with the the "smart" flash and sunset settings as noted above really puts a damper on my view of this new camera. Also the Auto setting and the EXR setting really does not produce any significant difference in picture outcomes. To obtain a decent back-lit shot, one has to force the flash and bring the camera really close (1-2 feet) from the subject, otherwise the flash would not be bright enough. The sunset setting is only useful during mid day. If you use it at real sunset time like I did, the pictures will be very underexposed/dark due to the ISO locked at 100. Therefore instead of fighting with my brand new F80EXR, I am back to using my older Fuji camera to take my pictures.
