Fuji Finepix F80 (with ACC Kit, Black)

Pros: 10X optical zoom and the large bright view screen. Low light performance improved using special multi-frame stitch settings. Nice pictures with the auto EXR setting. Rechargeable battery is a nice option.

Cons: Smart flash not very "smart". Unable to produce a decent photo if the subject is back-lit. Indoor day photo with auto flash, the picture would be very under exposed. Also the "special" sunset setting is a joke, all it does is lock the ISO at 100!

Summary: Overall somewhat disappointed after reading all the hype and write ups about the EXR chip. The extended zoom in a compact body is nice to have but the issues with the the "smart" flash and sunset settings as noted above really puts a damper on my view of this new camera. Also the Auto setting and the EXR setting really does not produce any significant difference in picture outcomes. To obtain a decent back-lit shot, one has to force the flash and bring the camera really close (1-2 feet) from the subject, otherwise the flash would not be bright enough. The sunset setting is only useful during mid day. If you use it at real sunset time like I did, the pictures will be very underexposed/dark due to the ISO locked at 100. Therefore instead of fighting with my brand new F80EXR, I am back to using my older Fuji camera to take my pictures.
