Summary: Loved everything about the camera - except the quality of its pictures. Feels great in the hand. Good balance of features. But the pictures were washed out and beyond help. I exchanged the first camera for a second one to make sure it wasn't a defective unit. Alas, it wasn't. Too bad, but there was really no way to save it. Even Fuji's tech support couldn't help.

The pictures that this camera takes are not even as good as my old 4.0 mega pixel Canon. The colors are washed out and the pictures just don't have good clarity.

... one of the few that rate the E900 images "Awful" ... Steve ( http://www.steves-digicams.com/ ) rated them as "sharp throughout its zoom range." I guess different folks get different results.

Sounds like the beam options may be set to high. The lower you set the number, the faster it takes the picture. If you are moving while taking the picture, and have a long beam rate (resulting in a slightly longer exposure), it may result in the "washyness" of the picture you described.
