"Great camera for aspiring photographers!" on by kleigh91
Pros: - Simple to use
- Many settings to choose from
- Weight (not extremely heavy, but feels like you're holding something sturdy)
- Good qualityCons: - Weight (if you're looking for something extremely light weight, this is not the camera for you)
- While in video recording mode, the zoom makes a bit of sound that interrupts the audio qualitySummary: Overall, this is a wonderful camera for aspiring photographers looking to become familiar with professional equipment. This is not a professional camera, but it's a step towards it. Great camera if you're wanting a professional DSLR camera, but don't want to spend the money for one.

"Decent camera for a beginner and intermediate level" on by marinman
Pros: Zoom, Fair quailty pictures, Super Burst speed pictures. $ cost/ value
Cons: sometimes it is slow to auto focus or won't focus. slow trigger response. Zoom take getting used to, button speed timing is something you have to get used to.
Summary: Pros: Great zoom capabilities and burst speed shots. That is why I bought it. Had multiple settings for burst speed results, which is very good. I used it at a softball game and got decent acceptable results. Colors seem to be accurate and fair in low level lighting situations. Good in good light also. I took them early evening. Also, some from the big screen TV and looked decent. ALSO, the cost factor. This was the best for the bucks that I had researched out. I was swaying toward the Olympus Zoom models UZ series, but the cost factor was great with those and Nikon's which would have brought the cost closer to the digital SLR types so I choose this one and don't regret buying it so far. see below.
Cons: I had read in other reviews of the lack of focus, which I had a hard time believing, but I did a burst shoot, and none of the pictures were focused at all. I noticed it and tried again and got them focused. So, this camera does have an auto focus concern, which can be worked around. The button has a slower response than I am used to, I had to replace an Olympus C2100 Super Zoom Camera. So, getting used to this camera's personality so to speak will take getting used to and trying to anticipate shots is harder but once the shot is taken you will probably like the results. Take time to get used to the functions and I think you will get used to the results. As is with all zoom type camera's, you will need a tri-pod to stabilize when doing zoom shots. This is a new camera for me, so I am still getting used to it. I hope this info helps, but for the money, I think it is a great value for the $ I spent. Bought it off the web from a link here a CNET to JR Music/ JR.COM... which I have used them before and like them, but got one of the best prices from them on this deal. -
"Potentially a cult classic." on by zakstev
Pros: For those who, like myself, got a good one! Far as I know, this and the S1000 are the only S series Fuji built in the past four years that has any value.
The S1500 has endearing character, a great feature set for the money and is hugely entertaining to oCons: A bit clunky, heavy on such a small body. Will not match a modern travel-zoom in size and results. But it feels like a rugged, quality construction. Image quality is destroyed over 200 ISO. Slow but steady operation, a DSLR it is not!
Summary: The choice of numerous settings is interesting, useful and fun. Large, clear controls and on-screen choices are easy to read and to operate. Having a real electronic viewfinder is a big plus for me, when the LCD is hard to read in really bright sunlight. Battery life is excellent as long as one sticks to using the best quality re-chargeables. I suspect that many owners of the S1500 didn't bother to learn properly, but those who tried, were hugely rewarded.

"Awesome Camera!" on by missyhayli
Pros: Good Quality
Easy-ish to navigate
Lasted for 2 yearsCons: Half the settings only work when they want to
Constant "write errors"
Turn off, lens stays out, minor errorsSummary: This camera is capable of taking DSLR quality photos... when it wants. I've always had an issue with the zoom, it either doesn't keep a good zoom or it blurs the object and clears the background at the last minute.
I'll turn it on and have all the settings its supposed to have like white balance and light effects, turn it back on later and those options will be gone.
I give this camera a 4 1/2 because it DOES take good quality photos, just not a 5 because of the minor flaws. -
"Poor picture quality on macro zoom & colors are off." on by nmchick52
Pros: Works fine for outdoor shots
Cons: After owning for less than 3 months, started being fuzzy when using macro with zoom for shots 3-5' away. Sent it back; very slow service. After 4 weeks, they agreed to send me a replacement which had exactly same problem PLUS now the colors are off. Whe
Summary: I bought this after happily owning a Fuji Finepix for 6 years that finally started getting fuzzy on close-ups. Not only does the camera not live up to expectations but the service is horrible. By the way, when I purchased this last year, it had good ratings! Which is another reason I chose it, not just for features, price or because I had owned a Finepix I was happy with. Now all of a sudden the ratings are down. Why the change? Wasn't it tested enough before the ratings were posted?
