"A very good step from the compact towards sophisticated"4.5 starson by T2i
Pros: - A huge excitement after a compact point-and-shoot
- Very nice 10MP pics
- Nice preset modes
- Nice HD video capture
- More than enough storage with a relatively cheap SDHC card
- On-screen histogram
- Large LCD display
- Very nice 15x zoom
Cons: - Far from razor-sharp quality
- Custom mini-USB is a nightmare
- Needs its own driver software on a PC to download pictures
Summary: For the first glance, taking some pictures was very exciting - then downloading them to a computer was really like a nightmare, the camera needed its own driver installed, and could only use its own mini-USB cable. Then I bought a Kingston memory card reader sized about a pendrive for $5, and everything became smooth and convenient. I do not know why Fujifilm thinks that leaving compatibility with today's standards is still a way to follow; even if there's an easy workaround.
Otherwise, the camera is very exciting, and I'm having very good times with it shooting nature pics (the colors are really nice) even from the distance (the 15x zoom is working out very well, although picture quality is far from outstanding in general, chromatic aberration is likely to turn up even with the best lighting conditions). The feature set is packed with candys for those who had a point-and-shoot before this machine, it is really exciting to explore what the camera can do - and everything it does is done in a very user-friendly way.
I would recommend this camera to anyone who would like a little more than a simple compact, or has been using a compact, but would like to get a very nice bridge camera for a very affordable price.
