"Great value in a nearly perfect amateur's camera"4.5 starson by The Lurker
Pros: Easy-to-use from totally auto to totally manual. Good balance in the hand. Terrific value considering the range of options packed into this baby.
Cons: Non-standard USB connector. No support for 32Gb SDHC card. Setting some camera options is non-intuitive - RTFM first or you'll be frustrated.
Summary: After looking at a number of DSLRs to replace my old 3.1Mp Vivitar point-and-shoot (which was terrific for its day but starting to look a little dated), I settled on the FinePix S200HD. I'd previously fallen in love with the Konica AutoReflex line of 35mm SLRs before the digital revolution and this camera has given me the same joy of picture taking that I experienced years ago with my Konica. It is light, well-balanced and easy to use. Battery life is much better than I got with my Vivitar. Most options are intuitive. The ones that aren't seem sensible once you've read the manual and understand what they are actually doing. I have no hesitation recommending this camera to anyone who is in that grey area above just taking snapshots but below expert. A true enthusiast will want to go for one of the fine DSLRs on the market, but if you're not quite there yet, this camera will get you pretty close for only a bit more than $200. Thank you, Fuji!
