"WOWZA! This camera is the best!!!!!" on by THEZOO605
Pros: Sharp, sharp pics
Cons: On board flash can flood pics
Summary: I have had this camera for over a year now. All I can say is ... wow! I love it! I have done professional photos with this camera and it is the best!!! I have enlarged up to a 16x20 and not had any quality loss. I haven't tried anything larger. I do normally use a hot shoe flash with a bracket to keep the pics from bleeding out. But, that is normal for any camera like this. Nothing abnormal there. I can say that even in dark situations, this camera will even take the there too! Myabe require just a tad more editing with Photoshop but that is not a problem. The camera life on this camera is awesome too!! And, the xd cards are very, very nice and compact. But,I do like the option of using the compact flash too! You can use all sorts of filters with this camera just by purchasing the attachment for it. Very inexpensive! The only thing I can say that I really wish it had was a pc sync for the flash. That is the one and only complaint I have about this camera. I have shot over 8000 pics with this camera since I got it and I can say that I don't regret the first time getting it!
A wonderful, wonderful buy for anyone that wants more than a point and shoot compact. I have large hands and this camera fits very comfortably in my hands without "getting lost".
Get the camera. Buy an extended warranty since all these things are super sensitive and can damage easily. Then go shoot pics of everything in site! I think you will be surprised and amazed!
BTW..I shot a friends' wedding with this camera. She also had someone else shooting medium format. My pics are much, much clearer than his were! -
"Do Not Buy!!!" on by BHSDallas
Pros: Lots of features, ergonomic design
Cons: Lousy image quality.
Summary: Very disappointing results from the Fuji Finepix s7000. I've had it for several months. It was easy to use out of the box, but the images are nearly always fuzzy. different areas in the same depth of field are blurry. figure that one out. and manual focus is impossible. Calls to tech support are futile. I should have bought the Digital Rebel (Canon). This purchase was a HUGE mistake.

"Great Prosumer Camera" on by rodmanlama
Pros: Great Picture Quality; Manual Control
Cons: Eats Batteries; A little Bulky for users with small hands
Summary: I bought this camera about 2 years ago(2004) and i have not yet regreted that decision. This was my first digital camera and now i also own a smaller Sony Cybershot. This is by far one of the best cameras that i have ever seen. The dual memory is a plus, (CF, XD) and the 6.3 megapixels are awesome especially because i have a custom built computer with a 24 inch LCD. By far the best thing that came with this camera was the quality. If you are looking for a smaller camera as a point and shoot, dont buy this. If you are a the equivalent to a black diamond photogrpaher this would be a great buy. Good Luck

I bought this camera back in spring of 04 and have gotten everything i expected out of it. I bought it at bestbuy at closeout price for 300 dollars. I saw the original price and said to myself that i got a deal. What a deal it has been. I do not think out of the 20000 photos i have taken with this camera in the past 2 years and not one of them has been blury nor has one been distorted in anyway. I would say that about one third of those photos have been taken in manual focous which i find is not the easiest MF that i have ever seen but it is decent and unless you really care so much as to the point you would choose different cameras over MF alone, then it wont be a problem for you. The burst most is OK. I wish Fuji had included a mode where you could take unlimited burst photos on 12F not 3m. you can however take 5 photos at a time in 12f so that is why i say it is ok. The worst thing about this camera is its battery life. I have owned other cameras and at the moment own other cameras and this camera by far has the worst battery life out of any camera i have ever owned. there may be cameras that have worse battery life than this but i have not encountered them so i can not say anything about those.
Overall i would say buy this camera for the picture quality if you can still find it because i dont think that they make this camera anymore, its follower or replacement is the S9000 which i also own and is very nice -
"Wonderful camera!" on by bscholles
Pros: One lens does it all. Excellent photos.
Cons: Focus delay before taking shot.
Summary: I purchased this camera in January 2004 after using what I call the "camera from hell," a 4.0 megapixel Apex camera made by Concord Camera Co. for a year. The Fujifilm S7000 was like a breath of fresh air.
I had been a professional photographer doing weddings, portraits and seniors from 1990 to 2002. I got out of this in 2002. My workhorse camera for my pro work was a Pentax 6 x 7 medium format.
I can honestly say the first time I had one of my Fujifilm photos enlarged to 8 x 10 I was truly amazed. Not only was it sharper than a 6 x 7 print, it actually looked like an 8 x 10 negative contact print.
I have been an amateur photographer since 1959. The Fuji is truly the most fun and creative camera I have ever owned.
The biggest con about the unit is the focus delay before the shutter fires. But as with a lot of photographic equipment you can work around this problem by focusing first, and holding the focus until you're ready to fire the shutter.
Other than that, I would highly recommend the newer S9000 the S7000's big brother, which offers an equivalent 28 to 300mm built in lens plus two macro modes and a true 9 megapixels. My feeling is, if you can't take a photo with this lens range you're not working hard enough.
The Fujifilm S7000 is a joy to use. After lugging around three Pentax 35mm camera bodies and five lenses as an amateur, the Fuji is truly a lightweight miracle.

"Not for the point-n-shooter" on by cbmtrx
Pros: Picture quality, manual functions, menu system, ergonomics
Cons: Devours, DEVOURS batteries, pointless auto shutdown feature
Summary: I've loved this camera ever since the day I bought it. Granted, I'm a little new to the higher-end camera functions, but having now mastered some of these perhaps my POV can help you decide.
(FYI: I think Fuji has an updated version to this s7000)
Most of what you get here is what you'd expect: a lot of auto functions and a lot of manual functions. I use most of them and so far I like the way it all works.
The menu system is logical, mostly, and most important functions are easy to access. Some nice little features hidden away here and there.
It's not a small camera, but it's solid and feels like it's going to last awhile. I bought a camera bag with a simple flip top so that when I'm taking pictures along a route, I can just plop myself into the car again and drop it in the bag without worrying about scratches etc. I also put clear protective plastic over the LCD screen; I highly recommend this for any camera.
My only real gripe: It is beyond me why this camera decides to shut down after about 30 seconds of inactivity--why are you shutting down?? Maybe I'm still looking for my next shot! Gnnk! ...and not only that, but every time it starts up/shuts down the zoom lens must extend or retract, chewing through more battery power. I don't get it. So I end up tapping the auto focus feature every few seconds while I'm walking around to keep the friggin camera active. Dumb.
OK, but other than that this is a fine piece of work considering the MP and feature set for the price tag.
Paid $430 at www.ibuydigital.com (I recommend them if they still sell it, otherwise check out Dell's site with online coupons--very good deals!)
