The Fujifilm FinePix T400 and its linemate, the T350, gives entry-level users an inexpensive way to put a 10x zoom in their pockets.

For less than $170 and in a body just 1 inch thick, you get a 10x, f3.4-5.6 28-280mm lens with sensor-shift image stabilization, 3-inch LCD, and a 16-megapixel CCD sensor.

Shooting options are basic fare such as automatic scene recognition, 17 scene modes including easy panorama capture and smile-activated shutter release, and 720p at 30fps movie capture with a one-touch record button.

One nice extra is the capability to tag photos in camera for uploading to Facebook or YouTube as soon as you connect the camera to a computer.

The T350 has all the same features, but it uses a 14-megapixel CCD sensor, which shaves about $20 off the cost.
