Will never buy an HP again. Zoom better fell off!!by - February 14, 2005
Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: The zoom button fell off after the warranty period and HP would not stand by the product at all! I took great care of this camera and the zoom button should not have fell off for $200. I requested a replacement part, they couldn't do!

Horrible quality for any action shots.by - December 5, 2003
Pros: Easy to use, docks well, simple interface. Price is right. Great for still-life photos.
Cons: Horrible quality action shots. Don't let the subject budge an inch--and certainly don't take this camera to the ballpark!

This is my follow-up review afer a total of 2 1/2 months of use. For the money, and the average person, this camera is a great buy. The previous review made no sense to me. If I wanted a digi with all of the features that were in the CON list, I would have bought one...for $600+. As for a novice using this camera, I have let others take pictures for me after showing them how to point, view, and shoot. No problems!!!

Horrible quality pictures, too user-friendly, not for the advanced user!by - January 13, 2003
Pros:
Cons:
Review:
PROs 1. extremely user-friendly for beginners 2. good enough quality for sending online email pictures 3. quick and simple point-and-shoot capability 4. easy to rotate and zoom with in-camera pictures with menu options 5. HP software makes it easy to download pictures and share on the internet with others CONs 1. no options for .jpg compression (camera defaults to hi-compression resulting in pictures being pixilated and compression ghost artifacts) 2. no options for exposure times and ISO options (100, 200, 400 etc.) 3. camera has difficult time focusing properly without flash 4. flash eliminates detail in close-up pictures?too bright 5. non-standard resolutions 6. camera is too simplified, no advanced options 7. menu setup only has 4 options?all of them not photo image related: Date & Time, Welcome Screen, USB Config, and Language 8. menu is accessible by the OK button? This would be difficult to find with beginner users. 9. too user-friendly for experienced power users 10. preview screen has bad color saturation, grainy, and has low resolution 11. preview screen is skewed (not aligned straight with cut-out window on camera) 12. you NEED the software to download pictures off the camera (cannot download them from HP either, must order the CD) 13. no integration into PC operating system as a ?removable hard drive? to drag and delete and copy files directly from camera 14. no integral lens cover 15. hanging lens cover gets in the way when holding camera and taking pictures 16. when powering on camera, you have to manually turn on the preview screen 17. when previewing pictures on camera, images appear first blurred and choppy and then delay a couple seconds to sharpen up

I always wanted a digital camera but i heard the cheap ones were useless...i wanted some 4 megapixel camera that would cost aroud 350 or more..since i dint have the money i didnt want to waste my money on garbage..so for christmas i get this as a gift...i was dissapointed when i saw that it was a 2.1 megapixel camera...but after playing with it and uploading to the computer i realized that this was a fantastic gift...and for the money i dont think you can beat it...i mean if your not a professional i feel this will do the trick....it prints photo quality up to 5X7 and lets face it most of our pics are only 4x6 anyway...this is an awesome buy i defentaley reccomend.

Newbie to Digital Photography likes this cameraby - December 27, 2002

I received this camera as a Christmas gift. Being new to digital photography, I found this camera somewhat easy to use. I did (and still do) have a problem with viewing thru the viewfinder and seeing the image on the lcd at the same time (I keep having to push the display button to get the focused image to show on the lcd). Also, I have found that the picture on the lcd does not look as sharp as the picture printed. The zoom is great and precise. The batteries do drain very quickly. I have not attempted motion video. The software was used for quick uploading to the HP website otherwise it is useless. I definitely recommend this camera as a newbie.

Met expectationsby - December 20, 2002

I bought this camera bundled with the HP 130 4X6 picture printer at my local Sams club for $350. It came with all the cables for both devices and a 16MB SD card for the camera with the usual software. I bought it mainly to share pictures over the web and via e-mail and was surprised at how good the printed pictures looked using photo paper. I have not had the problems with the batteries mentioned in other reviews and I have not used the MPEG video. I found the user interface quite easy. I would prefer a more robust one myself but found this one easy for my wife and kids to use.

Disappointed.. not an improvement over 315by - December 3, 2002

I bought the 620 as a potential replacement for my Photosmart 315 (I wanted optical zoom.) I found the old 315 takes sharper, more detailed photos. It's as if the lense of the 620 is looking through a plastic bag. The user interface is terrible (press arrow pointing right to make display go DOWN?! Press "OK" to display user menu?? Come on!) No LCD so you have to burn batteries (and it really burns them quickly) to check status. Went through a set of batteries in about 15 minutes of intermittant operation (the camera draws 2 amps from AA batteries when using the display.) Non-integral lens cover. MPEG video quality very "noisy" with poor luminance. I'm keeping my old camera and getting rid of this one. This is not an improvement over it's Photosmart 315 predecessor. It's a step backward.
