"One of the best cameras for the price." on by generalxfx

Pros: Good pictures, long battery life, and great for the price.

Cons: Picture quality could be better.

Summary: I am fairly new to the digital camera scene. I have done a lot of research however, so when I set out to find a camera for myself within $150, I found that the HP Photosmart M525 was the best deal. It has decent times from turn on to snapping the shot. The picture quality is about 8 out of 10 compared to the best cameras, but compared to cameras in its price range its easily a 9.5 out of 10. The video quality is a bit poor, but I rarely use it for that. Functions on the camera are easy to figure out. Overall I highly recommend this camera.

    "Poor Reliability" on by lostjedi71

    Pros: compact size

    Cons: breaks after a month

Summary: I bought this camera to replace my Kodak which broke on Thanksgiving after 2 years of solid use. I took advantage of the after Thanksgiving sales and bought the M525. After about a month's use, it stopped working on Christmas Eve, which meant no pictures of my family!! It reported a "Lense Error" and would not function at all. I took the camera back the day after Christmas and was a given a new M525. After light use for a month and a half, it broke this week at my daughter's 2nd birthday party--with the same error!! I am going to try and get a refund and buy something else. I am giving this product an "Abysmal" rating because a camera that is not realiable defeats the purpose of taking pictures.

"Poor picture quality" on by mr_lee_

    Pros: Cheap, Decent user controls.

    Cons: Poor picture quality

Summary: I bought this camera after doing 'comparison' shopping... cost vs. maximum resolution. This is a bad way to do it.

I got home, immediately snapped off about 30 photos, and viewed them on my pc. The pictures were very grainy and had lots of noise. I adjusted the resolution to the maximum, snapped off about 5 more, and they still had lots of noise and were grainy.

I suspect the lens is very cheap and is not capable of taking very nice photos. I have used 6 digital cameras over the last 5 years, and this has been one of the worst.

For the same price you can get a Fuji A500/A600, and get some decent pictures.

"I will never buy HP again" on by fallen424

    Pros: Good Price

    Cons: Broke after 5 months

Summary: I bought my HP M525 for 129.99. I understand that this is a low end camera, but you would expect it to last at least 6 months. No. The camera would not turn on and the little blue indicator light would flash four times. Now that I didn't want to buy the warranty, I have a useless camera. Thanks HP
