"The perfect vacation camera with enough functionality for the expert user." on by neelsd

Pros: Small size; easy operation, long battery life; strong after sales support from HP.

Cons: The included Photo manager software could be better.

Summary: I've used this camera for about a year and it never let me down. It's small size make it ideal to carry in my pocket and always have it ready for that special moment.

I'm using it with the optional dock and it is a breeze to transfer it to the PC. The charging function of the dock ensures that my camera is always charged and ready to go.

If you taken a panorama view, the software loads the Arcsoft stitch program and automatically stitch the relavant pictures in a panorama view.

I never had a problem with my unit, but a friend had to return a defect unit to Hewlett Packard. It was replaced within a few days.

Bottom line: I'm very satisfied with this little camera.

"Great all-purpose camera for digital beginner with some experience" on by JPeasemold

Pros: good resolution for cropping; beach and snow setting (great in Mexico);handy size and weight; value for money

Cons: flash distance is pretty short; focus and flash buttons are easily pushed by accident if you use the viewfinder (particularly if you wear glasses)

Summary: I held out for a long time before I bought a digital. I have been a keen amateur photographer for more than 25 years and still love my trusty Pentax K1000. I wanted to be able to do some cropping, so anything less than 4 MP wasn't going to do it for me. Earlier this year I was about to go on my first holiday to Mexico and didn't want to pack 15 pounds of gear. So I took the plunge and bought my R707. It was an excellent choice. It's great for outdoor photography, particularly the beach and snow setting. Took perfect beach pictures every time. The panorama feature works very well, too, as long as you can see the display. I find the convenience of small size and light weight far outweighs the minor limitations of this camera. I will eventually buy a much better digital, but for $325 CDN (including the docking station and cables), I figured I couldn't really go wrong. I LOVE this little point and shoot. I wouldn't want to rely on it under all conditions (such as trying to nail good shots in tricky lighting conditions), but for everyday use I would recommend it highly.

"Great compact, point-and-shoot camera" on by jquillen

Pros: Ease of use, picture quality, panorama

    Cons: Small LCD viewer

Summary: I wanted a camera that I could stick in my pocket and use as a point and shoot, but that also had advanced features that I could use if I wanted to. The R707 was what I chose and after 9 months I am very pleased. I paid $325, but this model but it can be found for much less now. If I were replacing this camera I would look closely at the new HP R717.

"Nice photos. Low price. Nice design." on by Björn Lundahl

Pros: Nice photos, low price and nice design!

Cons: Small display. Sometimes white turns out a little blue.

Summary: I like this camera very much. Very good photos and nice steel cover. Which gives a quality look and feeling. Sometimes white turns a little blue, which is not so good. Low price. A very good camera. I recommend it.

"GREAT CAMERA, NO PROBLEMS!" on by moores5

Pros: ease of use, picture quality is wonderful! small size

    Cons: software isnt too great,

Summary: I love this camera, Ive had it for a little over a year, taken it on several vacations and I couldnt be happier. Pics are great, video clips turned out pretty good, it was at a concert so lighting wasnt wonderful but Im pleased. The one and only complaint is the software included, I cannot use the editing software, but I do use the image transfer, then I use my PICTURE IT! 7.0 for editing. The HP software freezes up the computer for some reason.
I especially like the Stainless exterior of this camera, feels top quality compared to the cameras I looked at. They all have a cheap, flimsy plastic feel to them.
Im my opinion, this is a great camera and I would recommend it to anyone.
