"Nice Camera Lot's of features! really 8.5 for me" on by xbsims
Pros: Nice screen size, Lot's of features, very intuitive
Cons: Dockin station not so good, buttons on bad places
Summary: I have only had this camera for a couple of weeks but have been very pleased with it.
the good:
1. large screen 3"
2. very fast to turn on.
3. controls are very intuitive, on screen explanations when you high lite a mode or feature.
4. built in recommendations on how to get different shots, like having a pro with you.
5. this can be a double edge sword for this one, but buttons are easy to use and understand.
6. Picture quality is very good.
7. Like that you can take video for as long as you have memory and you can zoom as you film. Will lighten and darken picture with available light. did well in low light.
8. On board editing features such as red eye fix, picture art frames, slimming feature (I like this), and many more.
9. Has on camera panoramic features.
10. pretty compact size for large screen
11. Anti shake feature for low light.
The not so good:
1. Poor design of a docking station. Camera does not line up easily to the dock. flimsy and light. you can tell it is a general dock to use with more then one camera style. You have to use it to charge camera or down load pictures to the computer. could be issue when on trips. Not a big deal for me because my lap top has a card reader but this leads to next issue.
2. Battery and card compartment door hard to close. you have to put a lot of pressure on the door to be able to slide the lock and better have nails to grip the slide.
3. issue with buttons on top. (second edge of that sword) when handling the camera you will probably turn it on or activate a feature when you do not want to. I found they would get hit when trying to hand the camera to some one to show a shot.
4. you cannot go straight from a picture to a video takes about 30 seconds before it will respond. not sure why.
5. Battery life not great. could be due to large screen and compact design. will probably get a second battery just in case.
6. For the price I think it should have come with a case. Some upper end Nikon's do.
the BAD:
the camera has locked up on me a few times and not always in the same function I was using. It will not turn off so you have to remove the battery to reset the camera. remember the problem with the door. It froze one time when I took a 3 minute video and when it was processing the save it locked up. It also froze when doing a Panoramic shot again when it was saving. I went to hp's web site and it only mansions to take the battery out if it happens. apparently it is not uncommon for the cameras to do this because they listed several models and different ways to do it for each camera. I am tempted to call HP but will wait to see if it happens again.
All in all I really like this camera. lot of camera for the price (just over $300.00@ buy.com) I have owned several other digital camera but I enjoy using this one by far. -
"So Extremely Happy With This Camera" on by RHDM
Pros: Huge Screen, 10 MP, 30X Zoom which looks great even using digital zoom, Great Image Quality, Awesome Features, Good Looking, Great Size, Well Built, Video Mode, Zoom all the way when reviewing pics,..
Cons: Has some trouble auto focusing in low light, kind of pricey
Summary: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this camera to everybody. I have always been a supporter of HP products. I have an HP laptop and printer/copier/fax which are both amazing and I wasn't disappointed when I purchased this camera. I think it was well worth the money for such a great little camera with some powerful features.

Unfortunately, when I brought this camera to a concert, I was very disappointed with the pictures it took. I think the problem is that the lens is not big enough to get the light needed for a good picture. So my rating of 10 will have to be dropped to a 9. The camera still does take AMAZING daytime pictures and the video I took at the concert was pretty decent as well. I still highly recommend this camera, but the poor pics for concerts had to be mentioned. -
"Amazing Camera for the MONEY" on by tfronza
Pros: 10 Megapixel Camera at a 8 Megapixel Price
Cons: Only 400 ISO speed
Summary: I do a lot of Scenic pictures the Camera is Easy to use my Wife can use it and not have to contact me to help her she likes the HUGE Screen. I think the Screen sold me on it. The next step above this would be something like a Canon SLR and I am not ready for that yet. The only downside I see is the 400 ISO speed other than that it is a great Camera. I would reccomend finding a plastic screen protector similar to one used on a PDA. But still one of hte best cameras I have had....

"Good Camera but not great!" on by nyyankees21
Pros: Awesome screen, good battery life,on-board features
Cons: Picture quality
Summary: This camera is good. I've taken over 1000 pictures (this was my second one as the first one I thought was defective but apparently wasn't). Some pictures on the 10MP setting don't always come out that good. I am not a pro but I do know how to use them. In certain lighting conditions (sun, shade with sun) the image is not crystal clear. I noticed this in my first and thought I had a defective one.But second one had that too. Other than this, everything it offers is great : battery life, on-board features, flash and LCD.
