"At first 'glance'..." on by cestmoijeff
Pros: Good quality pics when moving
Cons: smaller than the avg usb cables connection and takes forever after snapping a shot to allow you to snap another one while it stores into memory
Summary: I was surprised that nobody had reviewed this unit yet. So, I thought I'd contribute to the greater good.
Just bought this unit from someone on Craigs List here in Nashville, TN and it was almost new unit. He didn't have the USB cable so I thought, no problem, I have one for my Canon PowerShot SD500 so I'll just use that one.
Took many shots on my way home, found out that the camera would take its own sweet time before allowing you to take another shot while it stores the shot so if you got the camera for multiple slo-mo shots, forget it. I quickly filled up the 512MB SD memory that the seller provided so I went to take out my USB cable when I got home and lo and behold... it doesn't fit! The Kodak's C713 has a smaller variety! ***?
Stupid. All my other devices uses the same one, why do Kodak have to be different! Grrrr... I have to preface my opinion of "good quality pics" as I haven't actually been able to view it on my computer yet; otherwise, on the display screen at least, it appears to be just as good as my Canon's.
I was able to take video easily, however, there was no sound when you replay it on the camera. I'm hoping it will have sound when I play it on my computer as the specs does say there is sound!
But I'm not expecting much for a $50 unit. I just wanted a second camera so that I can leave in my car for those moments where I'd say "Dang! I wish I had my camera with me!" -

"nice camera, terrible battery life" on by beckwo
Pros: The camera itself works well, takes nice pictures (for one used to using a disposable camera, this is definitely a step up).
Cons: The battery life is SO terrible, it even sucks battery when it's turned OFF!!! Unacceptable. So, basically, if I use it a little bit one day, then turn it off, within 24-48 hours the battery is totally dead. Even if I only used it that ONE time.
Summary: nice camera, terrible battery life. there must be a better solution out there.

"Depends on what your needs are.." on by xeineia
Pros: obviously if your a professional photographer you'll have the money to buy a better camera, so...
1: its good for family pictures, or simple myspace avatars and what not.
2: small, compact.
3: pretty cheap.Cons: if your like me, and you take artistic photos, DON'T GET THIS CAMERA!
1: low quality frame rate.
2: only 3x zoom
3: breaks easily.
4: eats battery life.
5: lighting, or "weather" and basically luck is required to get a decent picture.Summary: if your going on a vacation, business trip, or a family reunion, this camera is a good investment, it gets the job done. But if your looking for quality in your photos, get a better camera, especially if you tend to take close up pictures, blurriness is extremely common.
