"Acceptable camera; low cost; faster than expected" on by marksatterfield
Pros: Low cost, faster than expected, point and click
Cons: Dismal in low light; hard to force "correct" focus point; no optical view finder; cannot see screen in sunlight
Summary: I bought this camera as a disposable. I am a sailor and expect it to last a year or so (read this: "Hope I get a year or so!").
A few things that I like:
* Low cost. I got this for $88 plus $19 for an Ultra Speed 2GB SD card. Being low cost, it starts looking a little disposable.
* Faster than expected. This camera takes a picture in fair light in less than half second, which seems reasonable for a point and shoot. Startup seems to be fair as well.
* Point and click. Well, I wanted a point an click, and this camera definitely fits the bill.
* Great battery life! I took three hundred pictures with rechargeable AA 2500mAh batteries before the indicator even suggested I needed to replace the batteries!
A few negatives:
* No optical view finder. Sometimes it would be nice to have an optical view finder, such as in high light areas.
* View screen cannot be seen in sunlight. If it had an optical view finder, there would be no issue, but there is no optical.
* Speed to slow in low light. This camera takes forever if there is not significant light.
* Hard to focus. There is no indication for focus area (Canon, for example, casts a red light to help on focus). This camera just has trouble finding the correct area to focus.
* Uses that goofy micro-USB connection. This is the only device I own that uses a micro-USB connection, and therefore I have to carry around a cable just for this device.

"Great Camera! It is a great buy!" on by D1ll0n
Pros: It is very good on battery life!
Cons: the video quality could be alittle better
Summary: I just got back from a week long camping trip, in Temagami Ontario. I am very happy with the quality of the pictures that this camera took! I took about 250 pictures, and recorded about 8 videos that were all over 1 minute long, and I only had to replace the batteries twice! (for the whole week!). It has a good zoom, but one thing I noticed, is the zoom is a little porer quality when recording videos. It gets fuzzy when you zoom in too much. But other then that I am very pleased with this camera, and would recommend it to someone looking to buy a new one.

"I replaced a Kodak EasyShare C330 with this camera. Cost more to fix vs buy new." on by stewhs
Pros: For someone looking for a basis camera - guess this would be a good choice
Cons: Poor quality pics in low light such as indoors. Also have to open battery door to insert/remove memory card.
Summary: Compared to my other camera (broken, battery door) Kodak C330 - cost to replace door not worth the cost percentage wise when compared to price of a new camera.
I disliked this camera out of the box. I took several pictures, very few where of high quality. On close up pictures were blurred.
Outdoors hard to see screen....camera has no manual view lens.
Taking camera back - totally unsatified with the camera. -
"Great point-and-shoot digital camera w/ lots of options" on by the_rockman82
Pros: Easy-to-use situational lighting menu - 20 different settings
Clock stays set after battery removal
Easy to hold on to
Buttons spaced far enough apart
No USB cable or EasyShare dock required if your PC/Mac has a card reader
Good video qualityCons: No speaker to hear audio from video clips, but you can hear the audio when watching them on a PC/Mac
No viewfinder
Seeing LCD in bright or direct light is difficultSummary: I bought this camera because it was the right price, I can hold on to it easily, and most importantly, it does everything that I thought a digital camera should do. All of the menus are easy to scroll through. After I bought it, I opened it up and started playing around with it. I didn't even read the manual that came with it. Video quality is good at 640x480, and at fullscreen in Quicktime on my 17" widescreen laptop. If you want a close-up of something, get as close as you can to it, because the zoom tends to make everything grainy the more it's magnified. The close-up setting on the top dial works very well; be sure to use the right and left arrow keys to adjust the light. I really like the green, yellow, and red hands that come up after I take a picture. These are for image quality and subject. Green means good, red means terrible/iffy. This is where the OK button shines in SCN mode on the top dial. Play around with the different settings. While scrolling through them, it tells you what each setting is good for. Even then, the red ones sometimes come out ok. The top of the LCD from left to right tells you whether the date stamp is on, flash mode, resolution, pictures remaining, and internal or external storage (when in picture mode). In review mode there is the image quality hand (green, yellow, red) number of picture/video you're looking at, and storage type. The play button in the bottom right tells you that you're in review mode. These things can be removed by pushing the display button to the right of the LCD, whether you're in picture/video or review mode. The storage type can be selected, but external is the way to go. A 1GB SD card holds something 800+ pictures at its highest resolution (8 MP). At under 100 bucks, it's really hard to beat for what you get. Highly recommended!
