Pretty pictures for a pittance
In our tests, the DX4900 delivered evenly exposed images with pleasing, well-saturated colors. Although pictures taken outdoors tended to be a bit heavy on the contrast, image quality was generally quite good. Shots taken with the camera's extended-exposure-time feature turned out well, although they had a soft look and sometimes took on a slightly yellow cast indoors. The burst mode produced less satisfactory results, giving us pictures with visible artifacts and jaggies even in good lighting conditions. We also saw some noticeable purple fringing in shots with bright backgrounds.
Like all EasyShare models, the DX4900 is compatible with Kodak's EasyShare camera dock, which serves as a battery charger and enables one-button image downloads to a PC. However, the dock isn't included in the camera package and must be purchased separately. Since images can be downloaded to the DX4900 via a USB cable, the camera dock is not essential, but it does make everything extremely easy.
