"The kodak EasyShare was made to be 'easy' (hence the name) to use, and it is." on by thomasmeisch
Pros: Excellent zoom, Clear well balanced picture, Great easy to use interface. Just enough extra's for the Dad who likes to tinker!
Cons: Compression setting would be nice.
Summary: I own a Nikon D70 digital camera that is 6 mega pixels. Comparing 8x10's from the two cameras I could not see a difference.
The zoom is good up to about 3/4, any more you'll need to get out a tripod.
Feels good in your hand, controls are well place(no cramping in my hand) and 2" screen is awesome.
The Kodak DX6490 is an exception digital camera, easy and fun to use, with just enough extras to keep 98% of the people buying it happy. -
"Focus quality too inconsistent" on
Pros: Overall good value for the price.
Cons: Picture quality is too inconsistent, especially the focus feature. Best to take two or three shots of the same subject to ensure at least one will be acceptable.

"great camera and a great price" on by tooi6
Pros: good lens
Cons: no manual focusing
Summary: Bought this camera about a year ago and have had only good pics in all kinds of conditions including harsh sunlight and snow. Focusing took me a few minutes to get used to as this is my first autofocus camera and i rarely have a failed photo.

"Good camera overall" on
Pros: I like the feel of this camera; it feels like a traditional 35mm. Love the zoom capability, the movies it takes, the quality of the photos, the big viewing screen (makes sharing photos from the camera with someone very easy). I also have the PrinterDock
Cons: As my very first digital camera purchase, I have to say that this camera overall is a good one. The only major drawback is with the Kodak EasyShare software. Even after I downloaded the newest version of the software, the software still cannot recognize

"great camera with some flaws" on
Pros: wonderful in good light. zoom is impressive. a really great point and shoot camera with a few extra features to stimulate a more advanced photographer.
Cons: no manual focus drives me nuts. the auto focus has a hard time in any low light situation.
