"A good upgrade option from 2.0MP"
Pros: 16x total zoom. Ease of use and sharing. Robust software. Clear photos. Lightweight. Plenty scene mode options and shooting modes.
Cons: Fewer shots, hard to adjust diopter knob, thick at the edges due to viewfinder
Summary: I got this unit to replace my Canon A-40 2MP digicam. I cant understand why my old 128 MB CF card holds around 572 shots as a 2.0MP camera and when I adjust the DX7440 at 2.1MP, i only get 172 shots in my 128 MB SD card. What gives? Both the same compression also. Aside from that the on-screen mode description is very helpful Awful LCD clarity but after the shot is made, the photos appear super clear. Printout is very good too. I like the multiple scene modes option and option to use manual operation as well. Had difficulty starting the unit at first because i inserted the battery upside-down. I don't understand though why the battery fit perfectly inspite of the inverted insertion. No battery indicator on-screen is a minus. I like the 4x digital and 4x optical zoom too. Overall a good buy.Updated
After two months of owning this camera and rarely using it and never dropping it, one day when i opened the battery compartment, the battery fell off. The battery holder had broken! Brought it to Kodak service center and they will change the PLASTIC battery holder with a METAL one. Apparently, this is the only weakness I can see. Superb pictures and great movie capability!
