"Hands Down A GREAT Camera!" on by Anderoonie

Pros: Great Features & Large Display

Cons: Have Yet To Find One

Summary: I can't say enough about this latest camera from Kodak. I just upgraded to this (after my younger sibling dropped my older Kodak Z640). This is a noticably large improvement from that model. I have yet to take a "bad" picture, everyone turns out absolutely perfect under any lighting condition. I also love the fact that you have that "Kodak Perfect Touch" option now built into the camera, plus the ability to freeze motion video and make a picture out of it. I highly reccomend this camera to anyone who needs a great zoom/lense and an extremely EASY camera to use. Its nothing short of AWESOME!

"Happy I waited for this" on by okey0

Pros: Optical zoom, easy to use

Cons: wait time for next picture

Summary: I waited a long time to buy my own camera (have used them at work before) and i'm very happy with my choice. To me, Optical zoom is the most important feature of a digital camera, and this one has plenty for the price. The pics are very clear and have great color. image stabilization is also a valued plus.

the only negative is that it takes about 4 or 5 seconds to process a picture, so you have to wait to take the next one a little longer than i would like. to make up for this, there is a feature where the camera will take 8 pictures (2 per second) with one push of the button, or it takes 30 pictures (2 per second) but only saves the last 8 pictures. so if you are taking pictures with movement (kids, dogs, etc) this feature helps.

"Great Camera - Excellent Value" on by tracdev

Pros: Excellent Picture Quality - Long Battery Life - Many Features

    Cons: None that were apparent

Summary: I researched cameras for at least two weeks in preparation for our trip to the Southwest. I previously owned a digital camera, however it was stolen on a trip to the Canadian Rockies. I chose the Z612 based on the consistent good reviews on CNET and other sites. I'm very happy I did.

Since purchasing the Z612 a month ago, I have taken about 500 pictures and the picture quality is top notch. We brought along another camera during our trip and the pictures produced by the Z612 look far superior to my other camera. I utilized many of the scene modes and manual settings. I was very happy with all of the options and actually took some pictures in sepia and black and white.

The zoom and the image stabilization is outstanding, 12x zoom! Wow!

I liked the design/form factor. We purchased a nice camera case and the Z612 has a ridge (to the left of the lens if you are facing the camera) that I would always grasp to pull the camera from our form fitting camera bag.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. Based on the features and the excellent picture quality I think the Z612 cannot be beat for the price range.

"Super camera for a super price" on by gerrydee

Pros: Fast camera, sharp pics, large LCD and EVF

    Cons: Proprietary battery

Summary: I was getting a camera for Christmas so I did a lot of research before buying. At every review site I went to, this Kodak Z612 was getting from 8 to 10 stars out of ten consistently.
I narrowed my choices to three cameras, the Canon A530, the Panasonic LZ3 and the Kodak Z612, all in around the same price range if you shop around.
The Z612 blew the competition away. The pictures were sharper, more focused, amazing flash, super easy to use, a 12x optical zoom that will blow you away, large clear 2.5" LCD, excellent EVF, movies at 640x480 @30 fps with sound and zoom at the same time.
I have taken over 200 pics so far and have only had to delete a couple and that was because I used the wrong settings.
I also checked out the Canon S3 IS and the Fugi S5200. The Canon was slightly better but a few hundred $$ more and the Fugi was nowhere near.

My conclusion: If you want a super camera with top notch video, get this. I highly recommend it.
