"easy to use"on by Terry James
Pros mindless photography
Cons shutter speed could be better
Summary I bought this wonderful device last July and can't stop raving about it. With its automatic setting, any amateur photographer should be able to get great pictures.
For the money, it can't be beat.
Pros Small size, Good macro
Cons No manual controls, small lcd, few flash
Summary Good for start user...
Very basic to advanced users.... no manual controls... few flash....
Pros pictures come out good, easy to use, not expensive.
Cons slow flash, have to buy a memory card
Summary For my first REAL digital camera, I like it a lot. I saved my money, bought it and was very happy. It was easy to figure out... you don't have to be a genius. I was a little unhappy that I had to go out and buy an SD card, but I got a $50 rebate for the camera so it worked out ok. I don't use all the modes it has, so I can't really judge on that. I use it mostly for taking pictures to put online, and I will eventually print some out. I don't like that the flash is slow, but I can live with it. I think it is a very good camera for beginners or simple uses.

Pros everything bout it
Cons Nothing wrong with it.
Pros Pictures are decent and camera is easy to use.
Cons Broke twice. Display mode very annoying.
Summary I have had nothing but reliability problems with this camera. I bought it brand new and took very good care of it (never dropped). After taking around 50 pictures in Hawaii, the camera simply stopped functioning. It would not power up despite being able to display the pictures I already took. New batteries did not help. So I was without a camera for the rest the trip. A few months later, the camera would go into a constant zoom as if the zoom button was stuck, but it was not. Since the camera was only six months old at this point, I assumed it would be covered under their 1-year warranty. If you send a camera in to Nikon for service, you'll soon discover they will always find some excuse of why it is not covered under warranty. If you refuse their "repair estimate", they will not ship the camera back to you until you pay a "processing fee". Budget at least 1 hour per call to their customer-service center. Terrible service, just terrible.
Although this camera takes decent pictures, the display mode had an annoying feature. It would display so much peripheral information, it was hard to see the pictures I had taken. You can turn the display information off, but then when you switch back to picture mode, it does not display anything such as how many pictures you have left, etc. So each time, you have to go into the settings and change the display mode.
After 25 years of buying Nikon products, this is my last.
