"Great first camera!" on by docrenatoms
Pros: Quality photos
Cons: Menus hidden
Summary: This is a very good camera and I recomend to everyone. It is very simple to use in automatic mode, resulting in very good photos. The auto white balance is the best I've ever seen. The problem is when you want more from the camera. It has very good options but they are very dificult to use beacause they aren't simple to find.
But in general, it is a very very good camera for qhat it was made. -
"Good camera for druggies" on by ellovan
Pros: Great features and simplicity; good battery life and customizability
Cons: Horrible psychedelic neon color distortion in most pictures
Summary: The shots that don't have psychedelic color distortion are great, and look great when printed out. There are enough features for a photography enthusiast, and the camera is compact enough to fit in a man's front pockets. However, since most shots are severely color distorted, this camera wouldn't work well if you intend to print your digital pictures for use in an album.

"Not Bad - Not Great" on by jSabo
Pros: Compact, Easy to use as a point & shoot
Cons: Very difficult manual mode, very slow, must use only Lexar Compact Flash Cards
Summary: We chose this camera after our old HP camera died. We loved our previous camera so our replacement had big shoes to fill - and this did not do the trick. We chose a Nikon for two reasons:
1) Their reputation preceeds them
2) The camera accepted Compact Flash - which we already had a load of
The pictures we take are fantastic, but the camera is so slow that to use it for everyday things (such as capturing the moment w/ our little children)- you have to set the quaility of pictures so low, you might be able to get a 5x7 print. Of course even then, it is slow (with only a 12x Compact Flash) - we miss all the great moments.
Speaking of the Compact Flash:
Upon receiving our camera, we put our old Compact Flash card in and began shooting (the camera did come with a small card, but we didn't bother with it, since we already had our own 256 mb cards). Anyhow, when we went to download our pictures we found there were none stored on the card- sure enough we'd lost them. After some research we found that Nikon recommends Lexar cards for a reson - apparently they're the only brand that works well with Nikon Cameras. So after buying this brand new camera (and chosing it to save money on memory cards), we ended up spending another $150 on a new card.
We are now in the market for a new dSLR, of much higher quality. It's too bad our old HP died - it was the best camera we could have asked for! -
"very satisfied after 4 years of intensive use" on by dnenos
Pros: Image quality
Cons: menus hidden
Summary: I am using it for more than 4 years. Excellent photos. Resolution, colors, everything excellent. Very well built, I have it with me in every trip + at work. Now I am planning to buy a new one because I need a wide (28 or 24mm) camera.

"Good, reliable camera" on by ps249
Pros: Compact, ergonomical, excellent photo quality, many scene modes to choose from
Cons: Uses lens cap, 5 second gap between taking pictures, menu can be quite the learning curve, 1.5"LCD monitor
Summary: I had this camera over 3 years now. It has never failed me yet. Takes stunning color photos. Some cameras I used- you needed to take about 5 or more shots to get the best shot. The 4300 only needs to take 2 shots to get the best quality photo. Camera still seems to be going strong and taking excellent pictures after 3 years of use.If this camera ever breaks- I plan on getting a 7 MP camera.
