"excellent picture quality"
Pros: outstanding macro pictures
Cons: nothing major
Summary: I looked at the canon g6 & sd500, the Casio ex-z750 and the sony p200. They were all good. Probably the g6 had the best picture quality but was too heavy to carry around. The sd500 and z750 looked great but the macro quality was not as good as the 7900. The 7900 is my 4th digicam. The build quality is very good. The picture quality is arguably the best available from a compact camera - the sd500 is also excellent and these two cameras have been compared extensively in reviews. The reason I bought the 7900 was 1. better macros, 2. more realistic colors and 3. significantly cheaper price. I have been very pleased with this camera and recommend it.Updated
After using the 7900 for a month I am still very pleased with this camera overall and stand by my original review. My last digicam was a Canon PowerShot S400 Digital Elph. Although the canon did a better job with low light photography, overall the 7900 is way better in all other respects.
